POSITION SUMMARY: The Senior Clinical Nurse Consultant is responsible for providing consultation, guidance, and professional nursing expertise, including the assessment of resident needs, development of action plans, aiding in goal accomplishment, implementing policies and procedures, and monitoring the progress of consulting clients position is also responsible for assisting in the development, revision, and implementation of policies and procedures which ensure efficient, effective, and strong performance of communities and clients. When requested, the Senior Clinical Nurse Consultant may offer operational guidance and support to communities.

ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Assesses and provides feedback and planning for clinical product, delivery, compliance and training needs in consulting client locations.
• Provides guidance and feedback to assist in the development of plans of action for correction of issues identified through internal, consulting and regulatory reviews. Communicates regularly on potential identified risks related to compliance, patient liability, and adverse events.
• Reviews medical record documentation promptly in high-risk situations; provides training and assistance on this topic, when needed.
• Ensures that the system for reporting and evaluating events is functioning as effectively and efficiently as possible; assists clients with post-event management.
• Provides risk management guidance to leadership and implements loss prevention strategies.
• Participates in Health Dimensions Group’s Positive Review and Evaluation Process (PREP) services product.
• Reports regarding status of identified areas of opportunity, implementation, training, policy development and follow-up.
• Develops client reports, presentations, and other deliverables as defined in consulting letters of engagement scope of work.
• Authors blogposts, case studies, and other thought leadership deliverables in line with HDG’s marketing strategy and thought leadership plan.
• Participates in the interviewing, hiring, orienting, and mentoring of clinical leadership when appropriate.
• Monitors and coaches nurse leadership and provides training as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned for both management and consulting clients.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXPERIENCE:

• Knowledge:
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements related to nursing and long-term care required.
  • Knowledge of the MDS/RAI process, required.
  • Knowledge of risk management and loss prevention strategies, required.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
• Skills:
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills to effectively coach, motivate, and develop others required.
•  Abilities:
  • Ability to travel approximately 80% of the time.
• Experience:
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse, required.
