The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) is a professional, registered nurse who is a skilled communicator, collaborator and authentic leader. The ANM supports the organization in the execution of the nursing strategic plan and priorities. The ANM actively participates in unit and hospital decision-making and provides meaningful recognition to others. The ANM provides operational and administrative support to Nurse leadership. This position effectively coordinates staffing, supports throughput, quality and safety outcomes, staff competency, hiring, clinical and staff corrective actions, unit efficiency, quality care and other departmental activities to support the mission, vision and values of Hackensack Meridian Health. The ANM, in collaboration with the Nurse Manager, assesses, plans, implements, monitors and evaluates nursing practice and the nursing care delivery system with direct supervision of front-line staff. The Nurse Manager Assistant is responsible for the delivery of clinical services.
Manages clinical and support staff.
Responsible and accountable for daily operations to achieve best practice and organizational objectives.
Responsible for implementation of the strategic plan and standards of care and practice in accordance with regulatory requirements within the department.
Develops, coordinates, integrates and oversees inter-disciplinary programs, monitors performance standards and existing practices and designs new systems to improve organizational performance and staff competence.
Responsible for demonstrating leadership, providing staff development, ensuring competence and collaborating with Medical Staff and Senior Management to deliver high quality, cost-effective care across the continuum.
Will have strong knowledge of performance improvement, manage and coordinate the activities of the Nursing Team to ensure patient care is provided in accordance with established standards and regulatory requirements.
Will work with the nurse leadership team to create and support the goals of the organization.
Current and valid New Jersey Nursing license is required
Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing is required. MSN a plus
Active American Heart Association (AHA) BLS/CPR certification is required
PALS preferred
ACLS required
Telemetry certification required
IV certification required
Demonstrated clinical competence with a minimum of 2 years of Critical Care nursing experience required
Preoperative nursing experience preferred
National certification preferred
Prior assistant manager or supervisor experience highly preferred
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Leadership and motivational skills
Critical thinking, program development, and project management skills
Skilled in group facilitation and/or team building is a must
