Prioritizing projects and tasks to best address the departments' needs and fulfill the agency's mission.
Designing, conducting, and interpreting statistical analyses.
Collaborating with MCPHD staff and other organizations to assure the success of programs and projects.
Creating and supporting systems that make epidemiologic and other data-based information available.
Associated Job Duties 2 Main Summer Projects:
(1) Microsoft Power BI Application Migration:
Assisting with the MCPHD and Epidemiology department wide application migration from SAS VIYA to Microsoft POWER BI. Tasks can include creating reports, analyzing/cleaning data details, creating data visuals, and helping with developing training materials for POWER BI. Additional tasks will be completed for this project on an as needed basis.
(2) MyInsight Application Integration:
Assisting with the MCPHD and Epidemiology department wide application upgrade from Insight to MyInsight reporting system. Tasks can include updating/creating code for MyInsight data using SAS and Rstudio, analyzing and cleaning data details, and creating reports and summaries for MyInsight data. Additional tasks will be completed for this project on an as needed basis.
Develop results summaries and reports.
Present results to staff and partner agencies.
Attend Epidemiology and Informatics meetings & trainings.
Qualifications 4th year of undergraduate studies focusing on Public Health, Epidemiology, or related discipline. or Currently enrolled in a graduate program (preferred 1 year of program completed) focusing on Public Health or related discipline. Concentration in Epidemiology preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Experience analyzing health data, such as birth and death certificate data, preferred.
Demonstrated basic set of programming (SAS and/or R) skills.
Experience with computerized data analysis and data management.
Data Analytics
Data Visualization
SAS Coding (including SAS Enterprise Guide)
Rstudio Coding (including RMarkdown and Quarto)
Working Environment
This position requires the ability to engage in and/or out of state travel as needed, requiring a valid driver's license
Candidate must be currently able to legally work in the United States
Position requires steady use of hands or fingers: 50%
The job will be hybrid. This includes working in-person and online, remote, working options. For in-person days, the intern will be located within the Johnson Building with the Epidemiology Department (located on both the 1st and 2nd floor). The intern can complete work remotely and remote working expectations will be included in onboarding.
Equipment to perform job duties include department allocated laptop (including charger) and required badge to access the Johnson building. Additional equipment will be provided as needed.
