Job Description:

Responsibilities

The Research Scientist I will work on several biomonitoring projects within the Bureau of Environmental & Occupational Epidemiology, Center for Environmental Health. The incumbent will join a team of public health professionals (Epidemiologists and Biostatisticians) to collect, organize, handle, and evaluate project-related data; contribute to the problem definition, planning and execution of surveillance and targeted biomonitoring activities; and contribute to data management activities and analysis, writing reports and scientific publications, developing presentations, coordinating public information dissemination activities, and attending meetings with study partners, and perform other appropriate related duties.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Epidemiology, Public Health, Biostatistics or a related field and two years of research experience; OR a Master's degree in a related field and one year of research experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Graduate degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Environmental Health or a related field. Experience working on multi-disciplinary (Laboratory & Epidemiology) teams and projects and with community outreach and engagement. Knowledge of environmental epidemiology and environmental exposure issues. Experience in research and surveillance. Microsoft Office skills (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint), statistical skills, and data management skills. Familiarity with Qualtrics. Demonstrated excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills. Familiarity with confidentiality rules and regulations and the protection of human subjects in research studies. Experience in handling/processing biological samples.

Conditions of Employment

Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.

This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting will be available.
