Health Sciences Charter School is Hiring a Science (Living Environment) High School Teacher 9-12 Near Buffalo, NY
Job title - Science (Living Environment) TeacherReports to - PrincipalStatus - Full-timePosition Summary: Responsible for teaching 9-12 Living Environment with proven results in student learning. The teacher will be expected to teach for an extended school year, consisting of approximately 190 student days and 200 teacher school days, with an optional summer program. The Teacher will provide student services to those students enrolled, ensuring the effective completion of the curriculum that they are responsible for. The Teacher will develop creative forms of instruction to meet the needs of a diverse urban student population, while establishing and enforcing non-instructional duties throughout the educational process. The Teacher will work collectively in a Professional Learning Community (PLC). Responsibilities
Provides a diverse perspective when working with Students, parents, colleagues, and PLC members.
Maintain professional standards per HSCS in an urban environment.
Participates in PLC; daily participation and motivation to collaboratively improve PLC.
Engages in a diverse community based programming with regional colleagues and healthcare providers.
Observes and evaluates the students' performance, progress, behavior, social development and physical health.
Instructs students effectively through lectures, discussions, class activities, demonstrations and other creative forms of education of the curriculum their courses require and maintain a balance of these different educational strategies.
Implements teaching methods according to what is appropriate to students' needs and interests.
Establishes and enforces rules of classroom conduct throughout the educational process while adhering to all administrative policies and rules governing the students.
Prepares, administers and grades tests and assignments that are a reflection of what students will be evaluated on during NYS Regents, Advanced Regents and Advanced Placement testing.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
NYS Certification Biology 7-12
Certifications in other science areas preferred
Proficiency in microsoft office, electronic management, grading, and other instructional technologies.
Teaching in an urban setting is strongly desired.
Strong verbal and communication skills.
