About Healthy Minds Alliance:

Healthy Minds Alliance is dedicated to addressing the mental health crisis through community-based, evidence-based gatekeeper programs. Our mission is to train community members to prevent, detect, and support individuals with mental illnesses.

Position Overview:

As an AmeriCorps Member, you will serve as an instructor for evidence-based programs at your host site, certifying members of the public in crucial mental health skills. Programs may include Mental Health First Aid, QPR, SafeTALK, or other approved programs by Health360.

Key Responsibilities:

• Complete designated mental health program instructor training (Date & Location TBD).
• Conduct mental health certification classes in local communities.
• Perform outreach to recruit course participants and engage community partners.
• Market the program through press releases, social media, and informational sessions.
• Track participant progress through pre- and post-evaluations.
• Submit evaluations as directed by Health360 and training entities.
• Advertise courses as a designated training site.
• Build and maintain relationships with community mental health agencies.
• Serve as an ongoing resource for course participants.
• Protect the privacy of course participants, colleagues, and others by safeguarding personal information.
• Advocate for mental health awareness by promoting course principles.
• Assist with grant writing to support mental health-focused activities.
• Participate in AmeriCorps large service projects.
• Join monthly national calls held by Health360.
• Support host site mental health initiatives and regional events.

Preferred Experience:

• Personal and/or professional knowledge of mental health topics.
• Strong teaching and training skills, especially with adult learners.
• Understanding of mental health issues and available resources.
• Experience facilitating diverse groups and maintaining a positive learning environment.
• Familiarity with community and state mental health resources.
• Positive attitudes towards individuals with mental illnesses.
• Enthusiasm for reducing stigma and discrimination associated with mental illness and addiction disorders.
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Details and Benefits:

• Full-time AmeriCorps position: 1700 service hours (40 hours per week), 5 holidays, 2.5 personal days.
• $19,000 stipend paid biweekly (22 checks).
