Essential Functions:
Healthcare Alternative Systems, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate individual to serve as Gambling Outreach Coordinator to develop and implement outreach programs and services to assist individuals and communities who are affected by problem gambling. The primary goal of this role is to provide education, support, and resources to help prevent and address the consequences of problem gambling.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop and implement outreach programs relating to Problem Gambling
  • Develop educational materials relating to Problem Gambling
  • Assists in developing marketing collateral materials as needed
  • Collaborate with community partners: establish and maintain partnerships with community organizations, treatment centers, and healthcare providers to maintain a comprehensive network of support
  • Engages in regular, consistent “touchpoints” i.e.. mail, email, personal visits, phone calls, events, invitations, etc. with past, current, and prospective referral sources and updates database as appropriate
  • Maintains a current and accurate database that monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of outreach efforts
  • Organize presentations, campaigns, and sessions to promote early prevention of gambling disorders
  • Connect individuals with gambling disorders to appropriate support services, such as screening and treatment
  • Maintain professional development: attend conferences, workshops, and training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills in problem gambling prevention and treatment
  • Meet assigned admission and referral goals
  • Leader and self-motivated, requires the ability to interact well with others
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Thorough knowledge of assigned community and its residents
  • Basic knowledge of state social service agencies and community resources
  • Basic knowledge of health education, motivational strategies and an empathetic manner working with the underserved
  • Basic knowledge of healthcare systems
  • Ability to work with other members of the healthcare team and community to provide quality health care services
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written, and have basic computer skills
  • Ability to work with vulnerable populations in a non-judgmental manner
  • Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Must be able to multi-task, have initiative and be self-directed
  • Ability to endure periods of heavy workload
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions and respond appropriately to unexpected situations
  • Must be flexible with hours to accommodate participant needs.
  • Possession of valid Illinois Driver’s license and willingness to use personal vehicle in employment
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred.
  • Experience working with a high volume of clients in a fast-paced environment is preferred.
  • H.A.S. requires all staff to work onsite.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Associate’s Degree in social work, social sciences, public health or counseling, or four years of case management experience; or, an Associate’s Degree in a human services field, from a regionally accredited educational institution which has U.S. Department of Education approval
  • Equivalent two (2) years of experience working with diverse populations, community, or faith based organizations (health care setting experience preferred)
