Our commitment to fostering a therapeutic and supportive environment that promotes the well-being and safety of residents. As a Memory Behavioral Health Resident Aide, your primary responsibility will be to provide compassionate and specialized care to individuals with cognitive impairments, particularly those with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia.

Position Summary:

This position requires a unique skill set that combines expertise in behavioral health care with specialized knowledge in memory care strategies. The ideal candidate will be a certified HCA or NAC with a passion for delivering personalized care to enhance the quality of life for our residents.

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Care:

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
  • Provide companionship and engage residents in meaningful activities to stimulate cognitive function.
  • Monitor and address changes in residents' behavior, promptly reporting concerns to the appropriate supervisor or healthcare professional.

Behavioral Management:

  • Implement behavioral interventions to address challenging behaviors associated with dementia, such as aggression, wandering, and agitation.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans that focus on behavioral and emotional well-being.
  • Utilize therapeutic communication techniques to de-escalate and manage challenging situations.

Safety and Environment:

  • Ensure the physical environment is conducive to the safety and comfort of residents with cognitive impairments.
  • Implement and adhere to safety protocols, including fall prevention measures and emergency procedures.
  • Regularly assess the living environment for potential hazards and address them promptly.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date resident records, including behavioral observations, care provided, and any changes in condition.
  • Report incidents, changes in behavior, and other relevant information to supervisors and healthcare professionals.

Family and Caregiver Communication:

  • Collaborate with family members to gather information about residents' life histories, preferences, and routines to enhance personalized care.

Professional Development:

  • Stay informed about advancements in dementia care, behavioral management techniques, and other relevant areas through ongoing training and professional development.

Working Conditions:

  • The position may involve standing for long periods, lifting, and assisting residents with mobility.
  • Flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, may be required.
  • Exposure to emotional and challenging situations is inherent in the role.
