Position Summary

HEAPY Co-Ops expand both their technical and professional skills through performing meaningful work on real projects. Our Co-Ops are provided with support through mentors, HEAPY colleagues and key leaders of our company. Not only do we show you what to do and how to accomplish the goal, our mentors and leadership team also provide you with feedback to help you continue to learn and grow. You will gain real experience from experienced colleagues and see how the work you perform has a positive impact.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Learn HEAPY Abosorb LMS Digital Design discipline specific curriculum which includes AutoCAD MEP and/or REVIT MEP training to learn basic HEAPY digital design drawing standards. Actual product focus based on Practice Center needs.
  • Review aspects of HEAPY BIM content and application as required by the Practice Center.
  • Learn how to operate equipment needed to perform tasks (plotters, scanners, copy machines, etc.). Learn how to select proper printer/plotter, paper sizes and changing paper rolls.
  • Utilize AutoCAD MEP and/or REVIT MEP for production input primarily for HVAC project drawings. This will include HEAPY processes for project sheet setup, schedules, legends, demolition plans, diagrams, etc. Learn methods on how project drawing sets are assembled and review technical aspects periodically with the designer.
  • Understand scaling while in electronic models, as well as how to utilize the Dimension Tool within REVIT.
  • Work with your Mentor to learn how to read printed (or PDF) architectural drawings, MEP drawings, Structural drawings, and Civil drawings.
  • Visit a minimum of one construction job site with designer or construction services personnel to correlate drawing presentation with actual ductwork, equipment installations, etc.

PYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Ability to be sedentary at desk for periods of time while operating a keyboard, stylus and/or mouse and using a computer screen.
  • Ability to accommodate in-person appointments/travel in schedule with limited notice.
  • Possession of reliable transportation to and from appointments/clients/activities.
  • Ability to communicate in person, in writing and via phone with other individuals.
  • Ability to rapidly assess incoming information from a variety of resources and respond quickly and appropriately in verbal interactions.
  • Ability to work in all elements of indoor and outdoor environments which include the heat, cold, rain, snow, wind, etc.
  • Ability to access all areas of the jobsite with activities that include ascending and descending stairs, scaffolding, ladders, navigating elevation changes, etc.
  • Capable of working in physical positions that may include maneuvering self into different positions traditionally is achieved by kneeling, sitting, standing, squatting, bending over, etc.
  • Ability to move, transport, or position items weighing up to 25lbs.
  • Ability to follow safety guidelines for both company and clients.
  • Ability to gather, organize and evaluate information related to client opportunities and needs (such as market analysis, budgets, finances, etc.)

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Mechanical/Mechanical Technology, Architectural Engineering degree or other AEC Industry-related fields
  • Able to work full-time (40-hour per week) in an office work schedule for a semester long period.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States – Sponsorship for this role will not be provided.
  • Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Attention to detail and drive to produce high quality results.
  • Inquisitive-the desire to continue to learn and not be afraid to ask questions.
  • Ability to work with others in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills-both oral and written.
  • Revit or AutoCAD experience preferred but not required.
