Primary Purpose:
Assist the school principal in overall management of instructional programs, supervisions of the instructional operations, discipline management and personnel at the campus. Coordinate State & Secondary Campus Testing and Section 504 Programs. Coordinate assigned student activities and services. Directly support schoolwide and districtwide programs and grant initiatives. Utilize the TPESS Dimension in daily leadership.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Master’s degree
Texas assistant principal or another appropriate Texas certificate
Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS) certified appraiser
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Thorough understanding of school operations
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to coordinate campus support operations
Strong knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Working knowledge of budgets and personnel
Ability to interpret, use data, and monitoring achievement data (i.e. formative and summative)
Working knowledge of Special Education, Bilingual/ESL Programs
Foundational knowledge of Instructional Technology Support
Experience:
Three (3) years or more experience as a classroom teacher, Principal Certification and/or Superintendent Certification.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Management
- Organize and supervise the performance or tasks related to test administration, materials processing, test data entry activities, and handle inquiries regarding test administrations.
- Participate in development and evaluation of educational programs.
- Assist the Principal in overseeing the campus curriculum and instruction (i.e., Special Education Program, Bilingual/ELL Program, Instructional Program Delivery, Assessment Performance Analysis)
- Encourage and support development of innovative instructional programs, helping teachers pilot such efforts when appropriate.
- Promote the use of technology in teaching/learning process.
School/Organizational Climate
- Promote a positive, caring climate for learning.

School/Organizational Improvement
- Attend and lead PLCs with the campus team.
- Meet monthly with the Executive Team, ESC 6 and/or related entities as required.

- Ability to support completion of CIP and DIP and other secondary campus plans.
- Participate in development of campus improvement plans with staff, parents, and community members.
- Develop, maintain, and use information systems to record and track progress on campus performance objectives and academic excellence indicators.
Personnel Management
- Observe employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluation conferences. Serve as second appraiser for designated teacher appraisal system.
- Participate in interviewing, selecting, and orienting new staff.
- Participate in making recommendations to the superintendent on termination, suspension, or nonrenewal of employees assigned to the secondary campus.
- Work with Campus-level planning and decision-making committees to plan professional development activities.
- Confer with subordinates regarding their professional growth. Work with them to develop and accomplish improvement goals.
Administration and Fiscal/Facilities Management
- Supervise secondary campus operations in principal’s absence.
- Assist in the development of secondary campus budgets based on documented program needs, estimated enrollment, personnel, and other fiscal needs.
- Help plan daily school activities by participating in the development of class schedules, teacher assignments, and extracurricular activity schedules.
- Supervise reporting and monitoring of student attendance and work with attendance clerk on follow-up investigations.
- Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required including accurate and timely reports of maximum attendance to requisition textbooks.
- Requisition supplies, textbooks, and equipment; check inventory; maintain records; and verify receipts for materials.
- Manage use of school facilities. Supervise maintenance of facilities to ensure a clean, orderly, and safe campus. Assist with safety inspections and safety-drill practice activities.

- Coordinate transportation, custodial, cafeteria, and other support services.
- Comply with federal and state laws, State Board of Education rule, and board policy.
Student Management
- Ensure that students are adequately supervised during noninstructional periods.
- Help to develop a student discipline management system that results in positive student behavior.
- Ensure that school rules are uniformly observed and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable.
- Conduct conferences on student and school issues with parents, students, and teachers.
Professional Growth and Development
- Participate in professional development to improve skills related to job assignment.
School/Community Relations
- Articulate the school’s mission to community and solicit its support in realizing mission.
- Demonstrate awareness of school-community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs.
- Use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Coordinate staff and student schedules at the secondary campus with the secondary school principal. Share supervisory responsibility for professional staff with secondary school principal. Supervise teachers, custodians, paraprofessionals, clerical personnel and others as assigned.
