Job Description
The Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Specialist, IT Infrastructure Service Management and Technology Assurance is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the policies and procedures for ensuring the resilience and continuity of the organization's critical operations and assets in the event of a disaster or disruption.
Role Summary
The Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Specialist, IT Infrastructure Service Management and Technology Assurance will ensure IT Resilience and Business Continuity through the use of tools and procedures designed to identify IT risks and vulnerabilities and enable the organization to mitigate disruptions while ensuring continuation of business activities. The position work across the organization to perform business impact analysis, create business continuity and disaster recovery plans that will allow the organization to quickly restore routine service operations and minimize application-related incidents in business operations. The primary responsibility will be identifying, developing, socializing and implementing automated solutions and processes designed to prevent and quickly resolve incidents that threaten organizational operations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct risk assessments and business impact analyses to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities to the organization's operations and assets.
  • Develop and document disaster recovery and business continuity plans, strategies, and solutions for various scenarios and levels of severity.
  • Ensure that all businesses have an effective and comprehensive continuity and disaster recovery plan.
  • Coordinate and conduct testing, training, and exercises to validate and improve the disaster recovery and business continuity plans and capabilities.
  • Monitor and report on the status and effectiveness of the disaster recovery and business continuity program and initiatives.
  • Provide guidance and support to the management and staff on disaster recovery and business continuity best practices and standards.
  • Liaise and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, such as IT, security, legal, compliance, vendors, and regulators, to ensure alignment and compliance with the disaster recovery and business continuity objectives and requirements.
  • Analyze internal and external business challenges and recommend best practices to improve products, processes, or services.
Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, business administration, or related field
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in Information Technology roles
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in disaster recovery and business continuity planning roles.
  • Certification in disaster recovery and business continuity, such as CBCP, CISA, CRISC, or equivalent a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of disaster recovery and business continuity frameworks, methodologies, and best practices
  • Proficient in using disaster recovery and business continuity tools and software.
  • Excellent communication, writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
In accordance with applicable law, Hearst is required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role if hired in New York City. The reasonable estimate, if hired in New York City, is $150,000-$175,000. Please note this information is specific to those hired in New York City. If this role is open to candidates outside of New York City, the salary range would be aligned to that specific location. A final decision on the successful candidate's starting salary will be based on a number of permissible, non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to skills and experience, training, certifications, and education. Hearst provides a competitive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance, 401(k), paid holidays and paid time off, employee assistance programs, and more.
