Walter & Helen Friesen founded Hearthstone after not being able to find suitable care for his mother. Hearthstone of Beaverton was the first community built followed by Hearthstone at Murrayhill. While the two communities are different in size, you can feel the warmth of family as soon as you walk through our doors.

Medication Tech
Description

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administer prescribed medication and treatments to residents and maintain complete and accurate medical records. All responsibilities will be conducted in a manner that is consistent with Hearthstone's mission vision and values and in accordance with the Oregon State Regulations for safe medication administration.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Administration of prescribed medication and treatments. May be Delegated to perform blood sugar testing and insulin injections.
• Manage the storage of medications according to policies and procedures.
• Meet resident care needs.
• Transcribe physician orders completely and accurately.
• Make and receive phone calls to physician offices and pharmacy for information and clarification.
• Observe and report changes in resident's physical or behavioral conditions to Nurse and complete documentation on actions.
• Take and record vital signs, as directed.
• Prepare chart for new residents.
• Acting Person in Charge in managements absence.
• Knowledgeable in use of equipment.
• Make copies of chart materials to go with resident when leaving for hospital or physician appointment.
• Maintain cleanliness and order in Medication Room and Chart Room.
• Report needs for health care supplies to RCC or Nurse.
• Must be able to think, act and intervene independently in both routine and emergency situations.
• Will be the point-person in charge, responding to fire alarms as described in policy and procedures.
• Demonstrates an appreciation of the heritage, values, and wisdom of the residents and an understanding of the aging process.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school graduate or GED
• Minimum age 18ys old
• Excellent leadership skills
• Previous med tech experience
• Computer skills
• Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
• Current CPR and First Aid

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Ability to stand /walk up to eight hours per day
• Must be able to lift/push up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to lift, stand, bend, squat, crawl, reach, and kneel using good body mechanics for sustained periods of time.
• Must possess sight/hearing, or use prosthetics, that is adequate that the requirements of this position can be fully met.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Exposed to body fluids, infection, odors, and possible resident behavior
• Exposed to chemicals and cleaning solutions
