Heartland Co-op is Hiring an Inventory Control Coordinator Near Des Moines, IA

This is a Full-Time position working in our West Des Moines Office.

Oversees purchase and payment records of quantity, type, and value of merchandise and expenses recorded by Heartland Coop by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains perpetual inventory records by product and location.
  • Maintains shrink records and resolves problems when possible.
  • Interacts with IT and sales areas to be sure product programs work within the framework of our accounting and inventory systems.
  • Provides information on sales, margins, shrinks, and inventory as well as prepaid, booking, deferred payment and other sales programs as needed.
  • Work with locations on cycle count inventories to make sure their inventories are done and adjustments are justified.
  • Coordinates an Annual Inventory Audit to spot-check location inventory procedures and accuracy.
  • Works with the Operations Department to determine best practices for inventory control. Prepares and coordinates training for location personnel.
  • Provide management reports to analyze their inventory shrink and turnover to help them make more informed decisions when managing their inventory.
  • Reviews average cost on products and verifies that it is reasonable when compared to lower of cost or market.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license and commercial insurability at all times.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university; or four to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Math Ability:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of spreadsheets, word processing, inventory, and accounting software.

Certificates and Licenses:

No certifications are needed.

Must maintain a valid driver's license and insurability at all times.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervises employees in the accounting department.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
