Scope:

The Fleet Supervisor will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the transportation operations and CDL drivers. The supervisor will manage operation policies and standards, including oversight of safety procedures for small corporate fleet (10 vehicles). This position will ensure compliance with DOT, state and local laws, as well as all company policies. The supervisor is responsible for ensuring orders are delivered on time and shuttling of materials and products is completed efficiently and safely. This position also assists with management of facilities repairs and projects.

Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote safety and conducts him/herself in accordance with all safety guidelines at all times
  • Drive compliance with all U.S. Department of Transport laws and regulations including registration, filings, and logs
  • Document all records outlined by DOT and company policies including standard operating procedures, food safety and quality plans, training records, etc. 
  • Maintain or verify records of time, materials, expenditures, or crew activities
  • Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and transportation sequences to meet transportation goals
  • Maintain records of employees’ attendance and hours worked
  • Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions
  • Maintain shuttle equipment and out-of-service equipment and records
  • Confer with vendors, contractors, or other personnel to resolve problems and repairs
  • Yard Management
  • Develop and motivate team to solve own day-to-day operational issues and achieve plant goals through ongoing communication and facilitation of team meetings
  • Resolve employee problems or collaborate with employees to assist in problem resolution
  • Conduct employee training in equipment operations and work and safety procedures or assign employee training to experienced workers 
  • Initiate and drive process improvements
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • 3 years of Fleet Supervisory experience
  • Preferred 5 years Commercial driving experience and valid Class A CDL with all endorsements
  • Thorough understanding of current DOT regulations
  • High School Diploma required, bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Extensive understanding of Supply Chain Logistics
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must have ability to understand oral and written instructions in English
  • Must work well in a team environment and have strong communication skills
  • Must have the ability to work extended hours
  • Ability to effectively use maps and directions for efficient routing
  • Mechanical aptitude with project management background preferred

Physical Demands: 

  • Must be able to physically perform the functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions 
  • Must be able to work seated using a computer and phone for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to work extended hours, such as an occasional weekend 
  • Must possess visual acuity to document company records 
  • Continuous walking throughout plant and distribution center.
  • Lifting up to 40 pounds
