A Pet Care Specialist, serving as both a dog walker and pet sitter, provides peace of mind and freedom to pet parents by ensuring their beloved pets receive safe and exceptional care through our top-tier pet care services.

With a track record of professionalism and recognition, we have been providing exceptional pet sitting and dog walking services since our establishment in 2012.

Our commitment lies in delivering personalized and top-quality pet care while nurturing long-lasting relationships with our clients, built on trust and a special bond with their beloved pets! We serve the following areas : Yorktown, Poquoson, Seaford, and a few areas of Newport News and Hampton that are close to Yorktown.

You will have the chance to spend time outdoors, engage in exercise, and receive affection from incredible dogs, cats, and other companion animals.

Positions with Hearts at Home : Pet Sitter : Visit our client's homes from one to four times a day during our morning, midday, dinner, and evening shifts, to walk, feed, and provide exceptional care for their pets.

This position requires availability on weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Midday Dog Walker : Visit our client’s homes once a day between the hours of 11 AM and 3 PM, Monday through Friday, to provide dog walking services while their pet parents are at work.

Ideal candidates must meet the following criteria : Must be 18 years or older. B e capable of walking / handling all breeds of dogs, caring for cats and other companion pets.

Live in our service area. Be physically fit and able to work and commute in all types of weather. This is a VERY active position that requires hours of energy, even on rainy, snowy, or humid and hot days.

This is just as much a customer service position as it is a pet care position. Must be able to self-manage and work independently with minimal to no supervision.

Must have a positive attitude, be personable, organized, dedicated, and self-motivated. Be 100% reliable. The pets in your care depend on you.

Be punctual and have a strong work ethic. Must be at ease with capturing and appearing in videos and photos, as well as editing them using a cell phone.

Be detail oriented and follow detailed instructions. Ability to safely lift 50 pounds and walk at a brisk pace for 30 min at a time.

High-level timeliness and accountability Have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to pass a criminal background check.

The cost is paid for by you and will be reimbursed to you after fulfilling a six-month commitment . Responsible for the following : Providing care to animals (mainly dogs and cats) including walking, feeding, and other tasks as needed.

Prompt communication with the office. Providing client communications, and follow-up. Participate as a team member with company meetings, education, events / programs.

As our scheduling is based on client demand, we cannot guarantee a fixed number of hours or income each week. Compensation starts at $12 per pet care visit with a potential for tips.

What else do I need to know about joining the Hearts at Home Team? We are looking for people with a heart for pets who understand and accept the responsibilities we will place on them - our clients depend on us! We do not just play with cute kitties and puppies, we walk dogs when it's 90 degrees or below freezing out.

You may have to carry a dog up and down stairs, lift food bags or search under every couch and bed for a cat. We clean up after them, feed them, administer medication, and go above and beyond for our clients.

This business is variable and schedules will vary from day to day. We realize working under these flexible and changing conditions can be difficult for some people.

This is the nature of our industry and your dependability in this area is crucial. If you enjoy change and variety in the workplace then this will be perfect for you! I'm prepared for that! What additional information should I be away of?

You will have access to continuous education and training covering various aspects of pet care and behavior. You'll be equipped to handle unforeseen circumstances in pet care, with administrative support just a phone call away.

We seek mature, responsible individuals who demonstrate reliability, patience, and the ability to act independently. We prioritize investing time and resources into training our team members and expect a minimum commitment of one year we value long-term partnerships! We will not consider anyone for this position who is currently working as a pet sitter / dog walker.
