Heavenly Hands, Inc. is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide services to a male who has an Intellectual Disability with no behaviors to take out in the community. The individual lives with his mother in the downtown Suffolk area.
The hours for this case are rotating weekends with the possibility for some weekdays.
Saturday: 1st, 2nd, & 5th
Sunday: 3rd, 4th, & 5th
The DSP will need to have reliable transportation. The pay for this case is $16 - $18 hour. Mileage reimbursement offered.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist and train individuals in a home setting to enable the individual to maintain health status, develop skills in ADL’s and adapting to community and home environments. Empower and support each individual in developing their own lifestyle.
· Train in functional skills related to personal care (Toileting, bathing, grooming, dressing, eating, etc.)
· Train in functional skills related to use of community resources (transportation, shopping social and recreational activities, etc.)
· Monitor health and physical condition and assistance with medication and or medical needs.
· Assist with personal care, ADLs and use of community resources (completing personal care tasks when physically unable to do so, ensure hygiene and eating needs are met, complete daily tasks)
· Train in adapting behavior for home and community (redirecting anger, handling social encounters with others, developing a circle of support)
· Ensures all services are documented as required by agency procedures and regulatory standards
· Reads and follows the Individualized Service Plan (ISP) for individuals
· Completes and submits required daily paperwork, monthly progress reviews/supervision for each individual according to established agency guidelines
· Demonstrates understanding of Human Rights Rules and Regulations and upholds the Human Rights Plan.
· Ability to bend, stoop, sit, stand, reach and lift items when at least 50 pounds
· Willing to travel throughout Hampton Roads and the Peninsula. Will reimburse for mileage.

Qualifications
· Must be 18 years of age or older.
· High School or GED Diploma preferred
One year work experience working with the Intellectually/Developmentally Disabled population preferred but will train.
· Access to a personal vehicle for client transport is required. Proof of current insurance
· Must consent to criminal records check, including a finger print check.
· Valid VA driver's license required with acceptable driving record.
· Must complete a TB Screening.
· Once hired, must complete all required trainings in a timely manner – DD Staff Orientation Test, Staff Competencies, TOVA, and First Aid/CPR/AED. If credentials are already obtained, please bring current copies.
