Scope of Responsibility: The primary responsibility of the Assistant Branch Manager is to coordinate with the Branch Manager in managing the branch location, including; the direct supervision of all branch staff, providing customers with full bank services and consumer lending, and, promoting growth & profitability of the bank by developing positive customer relations.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Ensures customers are served promptly and efficiently in accordance with established bank policies and procedures. Promotes growth & profitability by developing and maintaining positive relationships with new and existing customers visiting the branch;
2. Maintains comprehensive understanding of all bank products and services; assisting customers with opening new accounts, account maintenance, check orders, wire transfers, safe deposit boxes, instant issue debit cards, notary services, or other services as needed;
3. Works with Branch Manager to coordinate the activities of branch personnel by assigning work, answering questions, solving problems, helping with complex transactions and sensitive customer relations issues, explaining policies and procedures, and so forth;
4. Maintains comprehensive knowledge on bank policies, procedures, including BSA reporting, to ensure clear communication and understanding by all branch staff members;
5. Participating in required compliance training and insuring compliance with all regulations that apply within the scope of the position. Supervisors have day-to-day oversight responsibility for ensuring compliance with regulatory laws as they relate to functions within their departments;
6. Responsible for providing front-end centralized residential mortgage, home equity, and home equity line of credit application processing for all customers and prospects.
7. Responsible for the evaluation, decisioning, and processing of consumer loan requests from application to closing.
8. Conducts audits along with Branch Manager to ensure branch personnel are properly following bank procedures and policies as expected;
9. Continually serves as mentor for head teller and teller line staff, utilizing opportunities to coach and cross-train. Communicates performance expectations and provides timely and beneficial feedback to employees aiding in their development. Coordinates with Branch Manager to provide timely and appropriate corrective/disciplinary action when necessary;
10. Performs other duties on a regular basis to facilitate branch harmony and teamwork; this includes: running a teller drawer, balancing the ATM and cash dispenser, balancing the vault, receiving and shipping currency, serving as back up for handling overdrafts, maintaining ADP timecards, and branch supply orders;
11. Prepares 14-day letter for overdrafts, sending required documentation to Bookkeeping;
12. Monitors branch cash level and submits Cash Monitor sheet monthly;
13. Scheduling and requesting floaters as needed;
14. Helps to maintain and update loan packet supply available behind the teller line;
15. Works with Branch Manager to ensure branch staff remains fully trained and up-to-date on security procedures and policies;
16. Ensures the facility and equipment are properly maintained to safeguard against financial loss to the bank or personal injury to customers or employees;
17. Performs other duties necessary to meet the goals and objective of this position.
Contacts & Relationships:
The individual in this position will work closely with the Branch Manager, branch employees and administrative department personnel for the purpose of accomplishing the tasks above.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand for prolonged periods, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15lbs. Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision. Employee will need to see what is going on around the branch for safety reasons, and be able to do close up paperwork and view computer screens.
