Hecla Greens Creek Mining Co is Hiring a Expeditor Near Juneau, AK

As our Expeditor, you will pick up materials from suppliers, freight companies, and our crew boat in Juneau for delivery to a remote mine to keep our production going and our profitability up. Every day you will work at our Vintage Park office in Juneau. You will be in charge of receiving and recording movement of freight and mail, as well as communicating shipment details to end users. You will be called upon to deliver daily expedited freight to our crew boat to be transported to the island. You must know how to work independently and as a part of a team, as well as identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.

The Greens Creek Mine, located on Admiralty Island 18 miles south of Juneau, is an underground polymetallic mine operating since 1989, employing approximately 450 people. The mine is owned and operated by Hecla Mining Company, headquartered in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Established in 1891, Hecla has a rich history as a distinguished and respected precious metals producer. Here’s what you can expect in this role: 

• Training first. You will receive department-level training on not just what to do, but how to do it safely as well. 
• You will coordinate deliveries, pick-ups, and expedited mail daily with our buying staff in town. 
• you will operate a company provided vehicle while following all protocol and applicable laws.
• You will comply with safety protocol guidelines to ensure items are not contaminated or compromised.
• You will process and record items received from suppliers, UPS, USPS, FedEx, etc. and sort for delivery as needed.
• Pickup inbound freight from the crew boat, and deliver outgoing freight to the boat as well.
• Consolidate items for weekly barge shipment with Alaska Marine Lines. Prepare Bills of Lading and distribute spreadsheets detailing materials within the shipment.
• Assist purchasing department with order tracking, confirmation, and expediting while updating orders with information received and communicating updates to buyers and end users.
• Safety is important. Each work area must be inspected before work starts. You will promote and personally observe safety procedures.
