The Recycled Materials Manager role is based in Duluth, Georgia but holds responsibility for recycle business activities throughout the Southeast Region. This position reports directly to the General Manager - Aggregates and Recycling for Georgia and will work closely with the General Manager - Aggregates for North and South Carolina. This position will manage safety, quality, sales, production, costs and growth strategy for the recycling business of the entire Southeast Region.

What you’ll get to do

  • Implement and maintain site safety programs and compliance, all training records, safety meetings and established safety procedures.
  • Active engagement with demo construction/demolition collection specialist to contact contractors and suppliers to secure inbound material and marketing of recycled products to both internal and external customers.
  • Maximize profitability between acceptance of inbound material and sale of recycled products.
  • Plan, schedule and direct the acceptance and processing of quality recycled aggregates for internal and external customers.
  • Engage with local jurisdictions for wider acceptance of recycled materials in construction aggregate applications, ready mix concrete products, etc.
  • Obtain and maintain DOT mandated qualifications for Recycled Material Supplier including managing internal and external testing requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal resources including logistics and sales to optimize usage and sale of recycled products.
  • Optimize production of recycled materials to maximize higher value and marketable material.
  • Proactively manage plant and rolling stock assets to drive production efficiencies.
  • Prepare and implement annual operating and capital budgets as well as capital spending requests.
  • Partner with the local Environmental, Health, and Safety, & Managers to maintain a safe working environment, meeting all company standards and external regulations to promote a culture of safety and promote a safe work environment.
  • Implement digital strategies to improve customer service & optimize fleet and plant productivity.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement within the operations.
  • Build relationships within the local communities surrounding the operations.

Essential Experience and Skills

  • Minimum five years of building material operations and/or commercial management
  • Strong understanding of ready-mix concrete, aggregate materials, and quality control parameters
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations governing DOT operations.
  • Proven experience with operational, sales, and marketing of construction building materials
  • Bachelor’s in engineering, business or relevant experience in aggregate recycling.
  • Demonstrated entrepreneurial thinking and successes identifying new profitable business opportunities.
  • Strong analytical skills and fact-based, data driven decision making style.
  • Computer literate including Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
  • Experience creating budgets and managing via financial statements and operations KPIs
  • Demonstrated ability to build and sustain a culture of safety as a core value within all activities.
  • Motivated to assume and manage all aspects associated with the role such as frequent travel between sites, managing multiple priorities, addressing urgent situations, and working irregular schedules.

  • Role operates in a manufacturing environment with moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, elevated noise levels, and dusty conditions.
