Description
Works under the general supervision of the Chief Financial Officer but requires extensive personal initiative and ability to work without constant supervision.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Applying principles of accounting and statistical analysis to maintain Helen Farabee Center's general accounting system and financial reporting. Oversees work involving compiling, reviewing, analyzing and evaluating financial data, and preparing reports for the County and State entities. Performs administrative, fiscal, and supervisory duties in the Business Office department. This position is critical for financial accounting, grant accounting, financial reporting, etc.
HFC incorporates principles of trauma-informed care throughout the agency, emphasizing cultural sensitivity and a safe and respectful environment for all individuals served and staff. All job descriptions include the responsibility to learn about and implement trauma-informed practices within the scope of work for the position. Reassignment is a condition of employment that may occur at the employer's discretion. Your work location and hours could change based on program needs.
Qualifications
Education, Training, and Experience
Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university with major coursework in accounting, finance, business, or a related field. Experience in reconciliation and general accounting principles required. CPA beneficial, but not required. Minimum of three (3) years experience in financial statement preparation (governmental accounting and knowledge of GAAP preferred); extensive general ledger experience required and basic understanding of fund accounting. Must have experience in cost report preparation.
Must have valid driver's license and be insurable to drive Center vehicles. Must pass all Center mandate trainings and all trainings required for certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of accounting, budgetary, and management principles, practices and procedures; and of legal restrictions governing allocation of funds
  • Skill in analyzing financial data, and in the use of a computer and applicable software.
  • Ability to monitor and report on performance measurement; to analyze management problems and develop and present alternative solutions; to coordinate the gathering and analysis of data; to communicate effectively; and to plan, assign and supervise the work of others.
  • Able to demonstrate initiative by actively pursuing efficiencies; understands complex written and oral instructions.
  • Must possess critical thinking skills and the ability to correctly apply generally accepted accountingprinciples, complex agency regulations and procedures.
  • Able to effectively converse with staff and senior management from agencies outside of the Center.
  • Able to present briefings and training materials.
