Helix Community Schools is Hiring a Director of Development & Corporate Partnerships Near Baton Rouge, LA

OverviewHelix Community Schools is seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Development Director to join our Helix Mentorship STEAM Academy's Corporate Work Study team. The Development Director will play a crucial role in securing and maintaining corporate sponsorships for our innovative programs, with a primary focus on the Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP). This individual will contribute to the growth and sustainability of our educational initiatives by establishing and nurturing relationships with corporate partners.
Position: CWSP Director of Development & Corporate Partnerships
Report to: Chief Development Officer
Start Date: Immediately
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree required; graduate degree preferred
  • 5 years of experience in fundraising, volunteer management and nonprofit event coordination, including significant success with major gifts, corporations, foundations and government sources
  • Proven track record of meeting annual fundraising goals and successfully securing corporate sponsorships and partnerships, demonstrating excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Experience in designing and implementing fundraising strategies, as well as cultivating and stewarding relationships with corporate donors.
  • Strong record of engaging board members, and direct solicitation of major donors, including individuals, corporations, and foundations
  • Familiarity with the educational sector, particularly in the context of charter schools or similar institutions, would be a significant asset.
  • Must be results-oriented, strategic, and possess a deep understanding of the local business community to effectively identify and pursue potential sponsors.
  • Comprehensive experience in collaborating with a finance team to ensure long-term sustainability
  • Personnel management experience
  • Evening and weekend hours required on an event basis
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, development databases and social media
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Corporate Partnership Development:
    • Identify, engage, and cultivate relationships with potential corporate sponsors.
    • Cultivate existing and develop new funder relationships
    • Develop and implement strategies to secure financial support and in-kind contributions.
    • Networking:
    • Attend industry events, conferences, and networking functions to expand the corporate work study program's visibility and partnership opportunities.
    • Relationship Management:
    • Act as the primary point of contact for corporate partners.
    • Ensure fulfillment of sponsorship agreements and maintain positive, long-term relationships.
    • Budget Oversight:
    • Work collaboratively with the finance and corporate works study team to develop and manage budgets related to corporate sponsorships.
    • Communication:
    • Effectively communicate the impact of corporate support to internal and external stakeholders.
    • Develop marketing materials and reports showcasing the benefits of sponsorship.
    • Maintain relationships with current donors by keeping them informed about HMSA's corporate work study program.
    • Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with the Chief Development Officer and Senior Leadership Team to integrate sponsorship goals into broader organizational strategies.
    • Communicate regularly with the Director of CWSP to keep them up to date with all pertinent information.
    • Metrics and Reporting:
    • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for corporate sponsorship activities.
    • Provide regular reports on fundraising progress and opportunities.
    • Proposal and Grant Support:
    • Coordinate and work closely with the Chief Development Officer to prepare compelling sponsorship proposals and grant applications.
    • Collaborate with program leaders to align proposals with the goals and needs of the organization.
