The Hellenic Classical Charter Schools are public charter schools located in Brooklyn (HCCS-PS) and Staten Island (HCCS-SI). HCCS provides a classics based education in the study of humanities and literature for students in Pre-Kindergarten to 8th grades.

The English as a New Language (ENL) Teacher will be responsible for:

• Providing research-based instruction in all four language domains to meet the linguistic and instructional goals based on individual student NYSESLAT scores.
• Actively monitoring the progress of English Language Learners (ELLs) and make instructional decisions based on student achievement data.
• Working cooperatively with ENL Coordinator, ENL teachers, learning specialists, and others in developing instructional goals and strategies.
• Creating a positive learning environment with emphasis on individualized language instruction, including accommodations and modifications where appropriate.
• Communicating with parents of ELLs and acting as point person for school-based communications when necessary.
• Documenting student data and information including assessment scores, evidence of progress, and communication with families.
• Administering and scoring NYSITELL and NYSESLAT under guidance of ENL Coordinator.
• Completing all record keeping of students’ progress in a timely manner.
• Complying with School Board and Hellenic Classical Charter School policies, as outlined in the charter.
• Being in compliance with all state/federal rules and regulations.

Minimum Requirements:

• A Bachelor's degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) or related degree within the field of Education
• NYS TESOL License or related teaching license within the field of Education
• Fingerprint clearance

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $57,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year

Experience:
