JOB SUMMARY The Medication Aide performs routine administration and documentation of medications to inmates. Works under the Nurse Manager of the Unit and the department Director. Is responsible for administering medications as ordered by the physician or APP. # It is the responsibility of the medication aide to collect all newly received medication orders from the unit pharmacy or clinic and take to the appropriate pill window for use.# Provides medication to inmates cell-side during lockdowns and staff shortages and to all inmate housing areas that are restricted units.# The Medication Aide is expected to administer medications as ordered, completing two pill window medication passes per shift. JOB REQUIREMENTS Minimum Education High school or equivalent Minimum Work Experience No experience needed Required Licenses/Certifications CPR prior to orientation completion Must obtain Correctional Medication Aide certification within 6-months of hire Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Communication skills and behaviors conducive to high risk environment Interpersonal skills and ability to adapt approach to a variety of patients and settings Professional maturity and accountability Maintain professional appearance at all times Handle confidential information# # Ability to carry out obligations and duties of position Follow security guidelines at all times
