Position SummaryThe Employment Services Coordinator provides employment coaching and training to participants so they can achieve economic stability by securing living wage employment. The Employment Services Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and implementing programs which includes developing training materials, reporting, outreach, recruitment and engaging with community partners.
Programs SummaryCommunity Action Partnership of Hennepin County's (CAP-HC's) assists residents with lower incomes in attaining living-wage jobs and removing employment barriers. The program includes resume support, interview readiness training, finding job leads, maintaining employment, and more.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Program, Participant and Community Engagement
  • Conducts intake and screening; assess client’s education, work experience, skills, abilities, qualifications, and job interest.
  • Supports individuals in their development of their employment plans and employment goals while identifying barriers and creating solutions.
  • Provides individuals with job counseling, job preparation, job search, interview readiness, and/or support services in attempts to match clients with available employment, training, or other opportunities.
  • Connects individuals with referrals to support services, resource services, education/training, career and industry information, housing, and employment opportunities.
  • Tracks and reports the progress of the individual’s employment plan and maintains required documentation and statistical reports.
  • Provides one-on-one empowerment and social skills training as well as, small group trainings as needed for success and employment readiness (e.g., facilitates a group using the curriculum, Getting Ahead in a Just-gettin-by World: Building Your Resources for a Better Life.
  • Works collaboratively with community partners to achieve favorable employment outcomes for the individuals being served. Such partners would include employment providers, social services, industry representatives, and education providers.
  • Performs as a team player and engages with client services team members and assists with other programs.
  • Attends CAP-HC meetings, activities, and trainings.
  • Supports CAP-HC's mission, vision, code of ethics and strategic plan.
  • Other duties as assigned, including special projects.

  • Competent in critical-thinking skills and able to organize ideas, including analysis, inference, and evaluation.
  • Experienced in community and/or individual case management or employment services.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Efficient, initiative-taking, and responsive.
  • Able to organize work, set priorities, and make good decisions.
  • Reliable, a consistent high-performer, and nimble learner.
  • Community-focused, and eager to help have influence in the lives of Hennepin County residents.
Required Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education required, associate or bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred (e.g., Social/Human Sciences, Public Policy, Community Development).
  • Minimum of (2) two years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to work with diverse and/or low-income populations, including those who may be experiencing homelessness, unstable housing, and/or mental illness required.
  • Ability to relate to and communicate effectively with a variety of multi-ethnic and socio-economic groups and/or individuals.
  • Experience balancing multiple projects requiring attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to prioritize.
  • Demonstrated people skills, including collaborating with a team, working across program areas, disseminating information effectively and conflict resolution.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills required, including public speaking skills and group facilitations.
  • Experience using MS Office programs including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint at a proficient level, and with data management software programs or databases.
  • Must complete Bridges Out of Poverty and Group Facilitator training provided by Getting Ahead within sixty days from date of hire.
  • Available to work an open and flexible schedule and travel/commute locally, on occasion.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Understanding and knowledge of community resources in Hennepin County.
  • Fluent in Spanish and/or Somali.
Physical RequirementsThis position requires an open and flexible schedule which includes occasional evenings and weekends. Daily reliable transportation is an essential part of the position.
Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must have the ability to walk short distances. Exerting up to twenty-five pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. Focus and long periods of mindfulness.
The typical in-office schedule is Monday-Friday, 8:00 A.M – 4:30 P.M. The hourly rate of the pay range is $24.00 - $28.00 and based on education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience. Benefits include: twelve paid holidays per year, PTO, medical, dental, STD, LTD, retirement. Job offers are contingent on a reference check and background check.
