Hennepin Healthcare is Hiring a Director/Physician - Family Medicine Residency Program Near Minneapolis, MN

The Department of Family and Community Medicine at Hennepin Healthcare is seeking a Residency Program Director. The Residency Program Director is responsible for activities related to the recruitment, selection, instruction, supervision, counseling, mentorship, evaluation, and advancement of our residents. The Program Director plays a vital role in shaping the educational experience of residents and provides educational guidance and administrative oversight, ensuring programmatic compliance with the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) requirements and core competency areas. Position Summary The Program Director (PD) must demonstrate a strong interest in the education of Residents, sound clinical and teaching abilities, support the mission, vision, goals and objectives of the program, a commitment to his/her own continuing medical education, and participation in scholarly activities. The ideal applicant will be a visionary leader, with a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, who can maintain the excellence of the program as healthcare, Residency education and patient care evolves. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Directs the mission and vision - Demonstrates dedication to Family Medicine Education - Establishes and maintains the program’s mission and vision, objectives, and measures of effectiveness as well as guides strategic planning for the ongoing growth and development of the program, in cooperation with the sponsoring institution - Formulates policies and procedures for the effective implementation of the Family Medicine Residency Program’s mission and ensures the enforcement of all laws and regulations pertaining to its operation Supervises the administration of the Family Medicine Residency - Participates in the budgeting process relative to the Residency Program - Provides a written Residency Strategic Plan annually to the Department of Family Medicine. The written plan shall address strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, needs, and anticipated actions to improve patient care, graduate and continuing medical education, research, cost containment, and new sources of revenue. Maintains accreditation - Provides direction and leadership necessary to obtain and/or maintain the Family Medicine Residency Program with Full Residency Review Committee Accreditation - Conducts ongoing review of the Residency Program as required by RRC and ACGME - Assures that services are performed in accordance with and sufficient for compliance with the requirements of all required accrediting bodies such as the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, etc. Directs the educational curriculum for Residents - Participates in the selection, training, and evaluation of the performance of Resident and Faculty physicians either through direct oversight or effective delegation of such duties; takes or recommends appropriate action - Responsible for an effective curriculum and evaluation process to ensure that trainees receive appropriate teaching, clinic and rotation experiences, and evaluation - Continual improvement of the Family Medicine Residency Program with a full accreditation by the ACGME and in-service examination scores averaging higher than the national mean - Commits to resident and faculty wellness initiatives Provides Faculty oversight - Responsible for selection and monitoring of faculty appointments, assignments, outcomes, and proper conduct of educational activities, effective instruction and supervision of Residents - Directs an effective program of faculty development and evaluation Oversees the research and scholarly activities of Faculty and Residents - Enhances clinical research among Faculty, Residents, and self Directs the recruitment activities of the Residency Program - Recruits, retains, and promotes high caliber Residents who exhibit interest and commitment to excellence in patient care and medical education, demonstrated competency in clinical research, high ethics, and a commitment to a high order of professionalism Acts as a liaison between internal and external organizations and the Residency - Establishes and maintains an education liaison with major academic institutions - Represents the Residency locally (i.e., other hospital departments; liaison with outside organizations; other Residencies) as well as regionally and nationally (liaison with other state and national Family Practice Residencies; membership in key organizations--e.g., American Academy of Family Medicine, Association of Family Medicine Residency Directors, and Society of Teachers of Family Medicine) Commits to Diversity, and Inclusion initiatives - Contributes to the diversity, equity and inclusion commitments of the organization fostering an anti-racist and anti-oppressive culture - Incorporates equity and anti-racism processes into Residency policies and curriculum Other duties: - Performs direct patient care

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Qualifications: - MD, DO or MBBS degree - Satisfactory completion of an accredited Residency Program in Family Medicine - Holds a current and unrestricted medical license or is eligible for practice in Minnesota - Certified (and recertified) by the American Board of Family Medicine or the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP) - A minimum of five years of clinical experience in Family Medicine, with two years as a core Faculty member in an ACGME-accredited Family Medicine Residency Program Preferred Qualifications: - Three to five years of experience in an academic setting with Residency Programs, preferably as Program Director, Associate or Assistant Program Director. - Additional preparatory instruction (e.g., National Institute for Program Director Development or Physician in Management series) is highly recommended - Demonstrated experience in leadership with experience in change management Medical Staff Appointment: The Director must maintain an appointment in good standing with the medical staff of Hennepin Healthcare
