Job Code: HBC 24-49Job Summary:The AVP/Accounting Manager is responsible for the overall accounting operations of the Finance Department. The AVP demonstrates a leadership role and provides guidance, training and support to direct reports and will provide support and assistance to the Assistant Controller, Controller, and Chief Financial Officer. Additionally, the AVP will maintain department functionality in the Assistant Controller’s absence and responsibilities include maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, overseeing the general ledger accounts certification process, assist in tax accounting, and manage payroll. The AVP/Accounting Manager strives to achieve a standard of excellence that reflects the use of innovative solutions and maintains high productivity standards. Pay Range:Base Compensation is dependent upon role, experience, and skill set: Min- $74,663/yr Max- $124,438/yr Primary Responsibilities:
Assist the Assistant Controller in the direction of the accounting functions:
Assist in maintaining the integrity of the general ledger/financial systems and provides financial support for senior management
Assist in the company’s month-end & year-end closing
Maintain investment portfolio including transaction input, categorizing securities, accruals and accounting entries as outlined in the Investment Procedures
Liaison with accounting software, system vendors, consultants, and investment brokers
Perform accounting and compliance research as assigned by SVP/Finance Project Manager, EVP/Controller, EVP/Chief Financial Officer, and other management
Assist in preparing and processing reports for monthly loan collateral pledging for the Federal Reserve and FHLB
Assist in the preparation of tax footnotes and other financial schedules for 10K, 10Q, Proxy and the quarterly earnings releases.
Provides backup and support for the payroll, accounts payable and fixed assets functions. Provide back-up coverage for SVP/Assistant Controller with Securities portfolio accounting and administration
Provide exemplary leadership while training and guiding Staff Accountants and Financial Analysts. Demonstrate commitment through personal and professional performance and active support of the Department’s objectives:
Train and back up staff in various duties including SOX documentation
Assess the performance of workflow procedures and determines effective solutions to expedite production and facilitate efficiency in all areas of the Department
Assist in updating finance policies and procedures
Aids in certification process for other department functions
Performs all other duties and special projects as assigned
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in Accounting or Finance or equivalent work experience
CPA or MBA preferred
A demonstrated record of success with 5 years of accounting or finance experience
Knowledge of regulatory reporting requirements and superior understanding of finance and accounting principles required
Proven time management and problem solving skills with the ability to organize, prioritize, and handle multiple tasks and make necessary decisions within a fast paced environment
Demonstrates initiative and the ability to work in an autonomous manner
Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of management
