Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Peer Specialist to join our team. As a Certified Peer Specialist, you will provide support and guidance to individuals with mental health challenges, using your own lived experience to inspire hope and promote recovery. Your role will involve assisting clients in developing coping skills, accessing resources, and navigating the mental health system.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize your personal experience with mental health challenges to provide empathy, understanding, and support to clients
- Foster a safe and non-judgmental environment for clients to share their experiences
- Collaborate with clients to develop individualized recovery plans
- Assist clients in identifying and accessing appropriate community resources and services
- Provide crisis intervention and support during times of emotional distress
- Conduct one-on-one sessions with clients to address their specific needs and goals
- Facilitate group sessions focused on topics such as coping skills, self-care, and relapse prevention
- Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to empower clients in their recovery journey
- Collaborate with other members of the treatment team to ensure holistic care for clients
Experience:
- Must be a Certified Peer Specialist or have completed a recognized Peer Support Training Program
- Strong knowledge of mental health counseling principles and techniques
- Familiarity with behavioral health systems and community resources
- Experience in crisis intervention and management
- Ability to effectively mentor individuals with mental health challenges
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proficient in documentation and record keeping
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in addiction counseling or substance abuse treatment
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles
- Familiarity with recovery-oriented practices
Note: This is a paid position. Internship positions must also be compensated.
