Your OpportunityAre you interested in applying your engineering and leadership skills to design stormwater infrastructure to improve water quality and support communities? Do you like leading integrated design teams with ecologists, landscape architects, planners, and scientists to design performance-based stormwater improvements on complex sites for compliance with state, federal, and industry standards to protect our water resources? Then this role is for you! As an Associate Civil Stormwater Engineer, you will join a interdisciplinary team of experienced, creative, and mission driven experts working on a variety of environmental projects from industrial water quality compliance evaluations to the design of new stormwater infrastructure to manage runoff from industrial and solid waste facilities. In this role we will count on you to:
Plan and design small- and large-scale stormwater facilities and infrastructure retrofits
Plan and design stormwater infrastructure at industrial and solid waste facilities
Complete civil site development engineering design for industrial facilities, parks, trails, and open spaces
Understand and navigate the requirements of the Washington State Department of Ecology's Industrial Stormwater General Permit, Municipal Stormwater Permits, Construction Stormwater General Permit, and local stormwater requirements in western Washington
Evaluate potential sources of contamination and propose solutions to manage stormwater to meet regulatory requirements
Produce plans, specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports for stormwater infrastructure projects
Lead an interdisciplinary team of designers, scientists, and support staff to deliver water quality solutions to clients
Provide direction to junior staff to model and design flow control, water quality, and conveyance infrastructure to meet federal, state, and local standards
15 years of relevant experience and a bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering
Professional Engineer (PE) license in Washington, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
Experience in planning and design of stormwater infrastructure, and leading design projects from start to finish while collaborating with a team from diverse technical disciplines
Experience preparing plans, specifications, and cost estimate packages along with related technical reports for public and/or private stormwater management facilities and/or site development civil engineering projects
Experience with hydraulic and hydrologic stormwater modeling
Business development experience
Construction management and/or inspection experience working on civil projects
Experience developing scopes of work and budget for design project
Experience with Washington State Department of Ecology's Industrial Stormwater General Permit, Municipal Stormwater Permits, Construction Stormwater General Permit, and local stormwater requirements in western Washington
Experience with Construction Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP)
Commitment to staying current with technical and regulatory developments in the dynamic field of stormwater management
Strong team collaboration, clear written and verbal communication abilities, and excellent organizational skills
A passion for developing sustainable solutions to complex water resource problems for public and private clients

Bluebeam or PDF editing software used for design redlines

This position is salaried and exempt from overtime; the annual salary range is $141,661 – $185,333
Salary is determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to years of experience, type/relevance of experience, skillset, and fit for the role
