HERRON HIGH SCHOOL is Hiring an Elementary Instructional Assistant Near Indianapolis, IN

Job OverviewThe Elementary Instructional Assistant provides instructional support to one or more assigned classroom teachers. The Elementary Instructional Assistant reports to the Head of School.
Performance ResponsibilitiesSpecific objectives and responsibilities of the position include:
  • Provides instructional interventions under the direction of a teacher that reinforces reading, language arts, and/or mathematics instruction of the classroom teacher.
  • Helps prepare students for formal and informal assessments.
  • Assists the classroom teachers with the implementation of the lesson and intervention plans, including supporting small-group instruction and preparing lesson and classroom materials. .
  • Creates and maintains working relationships between parents, students, and school staff including conducting academic workshops.

  • Demonstrate respect for colleagues.
  • Support corporation decisions and direction relative to matters of policy and administrative directives. Work as a team player.
  • Demonstrate ability to deal with sensitive issues in a tactful and professional manner.
  • Demonstrate commitment to our diversity and inclusion statement.
  • Assists with administrative school functions when not in the classroom.
  • Attendance at scheduled faculty meetings, professional development meetings and other sessions as determined by the Head of School.
  • Attendance at evening events that include but may not be limited to Parent Orientation, Meet the Teacher Night, Parent/Teacher Conferences and Open Houses. The dates of these events are listed on the Master Calendar.
  • An expectation of professional and ethical conduct and professional growth throughout the year.
  • Collaboratively works with the administration and others to support the policies, guidelines, and working procedures for Herron High School.
  • Performs other duties as determined necessary by the administration.
  • An assignment of 180 days with vacation as approved by the Head of School.
Qualifications
  • 5 years experience required, preferably as administrative support in an academic setting.
  • Strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Experience working in deadline-driven environments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products.
  • Bachelors’ Degree preferred, high school diploma required.
CompensationNegotiable depending on experience. Full-time benefits include health, dental, vision & life insurance; health savings account contributions, short-term & long-term disability, retirement contributions, paid vacation & sick days.
