HGA is Hiring an Electrical Designer Near Sacramento, CA

This position will work closely with the architectural group and other engineering disciplines to maintain our commitment to design and quality.

In this role you will:

  • Work under the guidance of the Project Engineer in the design of project solutions and construction documents with a focus on accuracy, clarity, and constructability;
  • Perform calculations, using engineering formulas and skills for electrical designs such as heating and cooling loads, lighting calculations, power distribution calculations, equipment sizing, material selection or site conditions accommodations;
  • Conduct and coordinate electrical engineering design work within the engineering group and integrated project teams as appropriate;
  • Resolve a variety of complex problems, i.e., conflicting design requirements, code issues, varying design options, and difficult condition requirements;
  • Provide drawings for own designs using Revit;
  • Research design options and document findings for Project Engineer;
  • Provide information to Project Engineer for incorporation into specifications, reviews shop drawings, research code issues and ask general questions of code officials and organizes and maintains project files;
  • Assure that drawings and designs are in accordance with design standards;
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with other team members;
  • Keep the Project Manager informed of workload and any changes in project scope or services through ongoing communication to understand any project changes, design issues or time/budget constraints that may impact initial assignment; and
  • Provide Project Engineers with project management and administration assistance.
  • You will need to have:

    • A BS degree in Electrical Engineering, preferably with an architectural engineering focus
    • An EIT, Licensed Professional Engineer or ability to obtain PE registration, in the near future desired but not required
    • 2 to 5 years of experience preferred in the design of lighting, power and communications systems for healthcare, commercial, science & technology and/or educational project types
    • Documented experience with a consulting engineering firm or A/E firm providing electrical design
    • Proficiency with Revit software, as well as excellent skills in Microsoft Office Suite
    • Familiarity with electrical analysis software (i.e. SKM, Easy Power) and knowledge of the current sustainable technologies applicable to the electrical design
    • Good written and verbal communication skills

    Salary Information:

    The pay range listed aligns to the geography of the office for which this position is posted. Actual compensation will be based upon work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Individuals in this role working more than 24 hours a week on a regular basis are eligible to participate in HGA’s robust benefit programs which include an annual bonus and success sharing bonus program, 401(k) guaranteed contribution, paid parental leave, medical, dental and life insurance plans as well as PTO and short- and long-term disability programs. Salary Range: $70,800 - $96,100 (depending on geography of the office)
