JOB OVERVIEW:
The Human Resource Assistant will perform administrative tasks and services across all human resources functions. They will support the operations of the human resource department by assisting with recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, policy implementation, engagement, company programs, and managing communications for the HR department. The HR Assistant contributes to the HGC company mission by supporting all HGC employees with a people-focused mindset to promote a culture emphasizing ownership, quality, collaboration, and integrity.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Assist in the day-to-day operations of the HR Department
  • Maintains employee data in the HRIS for both new and existing employees
  • Assist with payroll functions such as ensuring accurate employee hours
  • Employee Engagement: Assist by planning and coordinating employee events and maintaining and coordinating recognition programs and initiatives
  • Staffing: Coordinating and performing employee onboarding and orientation and process terminations
  • Compliance: Assists with Unemployment Notices of Entitlement and worker's compensation cases and ensures compliance with USCIS Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification
  • Employee Performance: Assists with employee performance evaluations, monitor staff attendance
  • Employee Benefits: Monitors eligibility, reviews benefit options with employees, processes enrollment, cancellation, or change, and annual open enrollment process
  • HR Strategy & Initiatives: Participate in special projects related to the development and implementation of HR business strategies, processes, policies, programs, and systems
  • Liaise with employees, supervisors, managers, and co-workers regarding employee relations
  • Coordinates and maintains HR employee communication
  • Maintains various HR spreadsheets with appropriate employee and business information
  • Reconciles and audits various payroll and benefits statements and recommends any corrective action
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws and regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Knowledge of HR compliance with state, federal, and local laws and regulations
Maintains employee confidence and protects operations by keeping human resource information confidential

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 1-2 years of Human Resources experience preferred
  • A High School Diploma/GED is required
  • Combination of education, transferable skills, and HR experience
COMPUTER/SOFTWARE SKILLS:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Experience with UKG HRIS systems a plus

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Manufacturing plant and office employees can/will be exposed to noise, dirt, dust, fumes, odors, chemicals, and other airborne particles.
