DutiesAs a senior consultant and clinical analyst, you will be responsible for a wide range of informatics projects and initiatives, including gathering and assessing requirements, serving as a liaison to various departments, providing communication and consultative services to nurses, and managing comprehensive programs. Utilizing expert project management skills and nursing knowledge, you will evaluate policies, analyze data, and support staff involvement in professional activities.
Additional Duties/Responsibilities Include
  • Serving as a senior consultant and clinical analyst responsible for a broad array of informatics projects and initiatives within the National Institutes of Health, Clinical Center.
  • Gathering and assessing functional and technical requirements, obtaining stakeholder inputs.
  • Serving as liaison to Clinical Center departments and external Institute Center's throughout NIH for issues related to area of expertise and assigned responsibility.
  • Providing communication and consultative services to all credentialed nurses at the Clinical Center.
  • Planning, developing and managing a comprehensive program in support of clinical research management, administrative function, or clinical practice.
  • Applying expert project management skills, including project definition and planning, stakeholder assessment, group process management, and involvement strategies.
  • Applying expert knowledge and skill in evaluating, writing and editing policies that direct the practice of nursing.
  • Analyzing data and information to evaluate and analyze process function and staff performance and document successful project implementation.
  • Supporting staff involvement and contribution to the profession and specialties in which they are active, through involvement and leadership in professional associations, presentation, publication, and independent research activities.
Requirements Conditions of Employment

QualificationsIn order to meet the Basic Qualification Requirements for a Supervisory Nurse Consultant (Informatics), GS-0610, you must:
Have a graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program. Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
AND,
You Must Have
  • Passed the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN);
AND
  • Possess a current, active, full and unrestricted license, or registration as a professional nurse from a state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
In addition, in order to qualify for a Supervisory Nurse Consultant (Informatics) position at the GS-14 level, you must have at least 1 year of Nurse Consultant experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: providing leadership and direction to subordinate staff; developing implementation plans for integrating new and existing technology; applying concepts of nursing theory and research to the design of health information applications and systems; and developing policies and procedures to prevent and defend against unauthorized access to clinical informatic systems, networks, and data.
