We are looking for an experienced workroom seamstress to mend, alter, and construct window treatments and other fabric-made articles according to customers' needs.

Your duties and responsibilities in this career include operating a sewing machine or sewing by hand, cutting fabrics, choosing the right types of thread for each job, and ensuring that the finished products meet the specifications of the manufacturer or client.
You should also be able to estimate the cost of constructing various products, taking into account the amount of time and materials required.
To be successful as a workroom seamstress, you should demonstrate a sound knowledge of various fabrics and sewing techniques. Ultimately, an outstanding seamstress should be able to achieve exceptional customer service and ensure that all tasks are completed promptly.

Responsibilities:
Inspect fabrics for flaws before cutting and while fabricating.
Cuts, handles and assembles, large pieces of fabric per work order specifications.
Hand cutting of drapery includes use of scissors, snips, seam rippers and rotary cutters at various stages of production.
Inspect finished product, trims threads and pulls staples if used during the fabrication process.
Fold and Package finished product for pick up or delivery.
Keep the work area clean and organized.
Update supervisor daily on the progress of projects.
Perform additional responsibilities as needed, relative to the function of the drapery workroom.
Be able to sit or stand for extended periods / have no physical limitations.
Be able to lift, stretch, and transport fabrics from one area to another in the workroom
Be comfortable running a Sewing Machine, preferably an industrial sewing machine.
Be comfortable using power and hand tools.
Have good math skills.
Be able to work with a group or independently as needed.
Requirements:
Detail Oriented
A minimum of 2 years of sewing experience
Ability to communicate and understand verbal instructions efficiently
Excellent attention to detail and fine precision sewing and finishing skills
Ability to work quickly and efficiently, ensuring that projects meet deadlines
Experience with industrial sewing machines and specialized finessing attachments
Experience working with a variety of fabrics and window treatments
Ability to work in a team environment with a can-do attitude
Read a tape measure and have useable math skills
Lift at least 20 lbs regularly
Lift 40 lbs on occasion
Be able to stand for an 8-hour shift
Meet deadlines with a sense of urgency
Pay attention to detail
Have fun with a hard-working crew who enjoy their work
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience in a custom workroom environment is a plus
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time Pay: $14.00 - $25.00 per hour Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
