Salary Range: $15.00 Hourly

Description

Rate of Pay/Benefits - This position will pay $15 per hour and work no more that 28 hours per week. Work days/hours may vary. The selected candidate will participate in the Kansas Public Employee Retirement System (KPERS). There are no other benefits associated with this position.

Description - The Test Proctor is responsible for the Testing Center and all testing at the HCC Technical Center in Atchison, Kansas. Will also assist in the organization, facilitation, and delivery of academic courses/programs and student services to the current and/or potential student at the HCC Technical Center in Atchison, Kansas, and the surrounding area assigned to the Atchison Center. Will respond to requests for information about admissions, enrollment, and maintain accurate records for student accounts and fiscal receivables. Assist in scheduling appointments, email documents, and perform other duties for the Director of Technical Education.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Administer and score assessment tests, placement testing and other exams as needed by campus-based programs and community partnerships.
2. Determine and recommend placement into developmental and general education courses based on diagnostic testing results.
3. Communicate and consult regularly with faculty to provide feedback on student progress and testing needs.
4. Maintain appropriate and accurate testing records.
5. Schedule tests as directed by the HCC Director of Technical Education and the Adult Education Director. Assure that functions are performed in a professional and timely manner.
6. Assist students in understanding testing requirements, providing referrals to other student services and outside community agencies related to testing and enrollment needs.
7. Prepare printed materials to describe and explain testing requirements and procedures.
8. Prepare and submit necessary reports concerning test results to administrators, faculty, and staff as needed.
9. Maintain strict adherence to testing standardization, ethical requirements, and confidentiality.
10. Maintain inventory logs and utilize the proper handling, transportation, and storage of tests to ensure the security of tests and confidential records.
11. Communicate with other educational institutions and state agencies regarding training, test administration, and security of tests.
12. Coordinate testing fees in coordination with the Administration Office.
13. Assist the Director of Technical Education and Adult Education Director in developing a comprehensive schedule and calendar of recruiting/registration events for testing opportunities available at the Technical Center.
14. Assist with registration events and ensure that all reports, forms, and payments are submitted according to HCC policies and deadlines.
15. Keep current on testing policies/protocols across all testing platforms.
16. Follow HCC approved purchasing procedures.
17. Keep current on HCC admission/grad requirements.
18. Maintain valid certifications for test proctoring PV and Accuplacer.
19. Communicate with KDADS on allied health testing needs.
20. Create and run reports using Excel and other Office Suite components.
21. Schedule and create appointments using Microsoft Outlook.
22. Compose, email, mail merge, send, and file routine correspondence.
23. Answer phone calls and email correspondence for student services area.
24. Greet students and visitors using exemplary customer service practices.
25. Communicate with students, faculty and staff for various events.
26. Communicate and problem solve with 3rd party testing entities, ie PV.
27. Complete other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
High School Diploma or GED required. Associates degree preferred. Must have strong computer skills. Should possess knowledge of standard, ethical testing practices in higher education.
 
Language Skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to compose and type routine correspondence. Must have good people skills. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to students, customers, clients, and employees of the organization

Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as test scores, fees, discounts, percentages, and other costs associated with enrollment, financial aid, book rental, etc.

Reasoning Ability 
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Must have the ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Good organizing, coordinating, and decision making abilities. Ability to work both on a team and independently. Ability to retain composure under pressure and through frequent interruptions. Remain flexible with changing tasks/responsibilities. Ability to work without close supervision and handle a varied job situation. Should have a service orientation and positive attitude toward students, employees, and community people who interact with the College.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee may occasionally be required to lift and/or move textbooks and other instructional supplies up to 30 pounds.
