We are seeking a groundskeeper/handyman to join our Highland Lake Resort family.
We are a 30 room hotel located on 7 acres with over 400 feet of water frontage on Highland Lake in Bridgton, Maine. The applicant we’re seeking must possess a variety of skills and be willing to engage in numerous tasks which ensure the safety and enjoyment of our guests. The position is part time a few days a week (generally Friday, Sunday and Monday) from May 1st- Oct 31.
Tasks that will be required, but are not limited to:
Ø Overseeing, inspecting, identifying and troubleshooting all issues relating to: plumbing, electrical, heating, appliance and carpentry pertaining to the property on a daily basis to maintain optimum efficiency of hotel operations. We work with licensed vendors for larger, technical issues.
Ø Handling building repairs to keep the facility in good condition to include but not limited to: small construction projects painting and some flooring.
Ø Scheduling Vendors and Maintenance Technicians for appointments.
Ø Participating in a standby emergency schedule for evening, weekend and holiday coverage on days scheduled.
Ø Responding to service requests in a friendly and professional manner, ensuring that all assigned requests are completed successfully and promptly
Ø Grounds keeping to include: hardscaping, raking, beach clean- up, weeding, mulching, watering and caring for the appearance of the grounds on a daily basis.
Ø Maintaining trash & recycling receptacles on the premises
Ø Maintaining inventory of equipment and materials. Keeping equipment in good working order and repair as needed
Ø Collaborate with Manager for projects and deadlines. Record and log as required
Ø Respond to guests' maintenance needs promptly and ensure guests receive professional, efficient, prompt and courteous service
Ø Conduct all business in accordance with company policies and procedures, state, and federal laws (OSHA, ADA, Fair Housing)
Qualifications
Ø 1-3 years of experience in residential, commercial, or mechanical maintenance preferred
Ø Time management skills, can easily conform to shifting priorities and timelines
Ø Professionalism, a commitment to hospitality industry service, and a strong team attitude.
Ø Ability to work well with others
Ø Attention to detail, the ability to multi-task
Ø Perform maintenance tasks and special projects to ensure work orders are completed in a timely and accurate manner
Ø Strong follow-up and communication skills
Ø Ability to work with power equipment (lawn mowers, power washers, saws)
Ø Ability to lift 50-80 pounds
Ø Successful completion of a criminal background check
Ø Valid license and reliable transportation
Compensation
$16.00 - $18.00 hourly based on experience.
