QUALIFICATIONS:

• NYS license as a Registered Nurse

• Minimum of 2 years experience as an RN in long term care setting or working with elderly

• Patience and desire to work with elderly persons

• Good communication and written skills

DUTIES:

• Completes assessments of each applicant for admission.

• Completes a comprehensive care plan to be implemented by staff

• Reviews and updates care plans at least every 6 months and as registrant's condition changes

• Administers, assists with, monitors and stores the registrants medications and assists registrants with reordering of medications as needed

• Performs medical treatments as indicated on each care plan and as ordered by MD

• Schedules MD visits as indicated.

• Arranges consultations with other health professionals as needed including podiatrist, PT, OT, speech therapist, audiologist, dietician, and psychiatrist

• Handles minor medical emergencies within the scope of RN practice guidelines

• Maintains an inventory of medical and medically related supplies, orders as needed.

• Directly supervises Nursing Assistants to ensure timely and appropriate care is delivered according to the plan of care of each registrant.

• Reviews and updates all nursing policies and procedures.

• Assists with program registrants as needed.

• Attends all required in-services.

• Actively participates in teamwork, individualized care, respect and professionalism.

• Demonstrates enthusiasm and general interest in work

• Other duties as assigned
