Woman Hospital is Hiring a Clinic Nurse Practitioner - LSU OB/GYN Clinic - Days - Full-time Near Baton Rouge, LA

The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing appropriate access to care for new and follow-up OB and GYN patients that have been added to the Health Center for OB/GYN LSU Clinic.

Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
  • Requires Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (Nurse Practitioner) license
  • Prescriptive authority in the state of Louisiana is required or the application process to obtain must be submitted within 5 business days of hire
  • ACOG standards for OB and GYN knowledge
  • Prefer a minimum of three years of related adult nurse practitioner experience, preferably in a specialty clinic.

Responsibilities of Nurse Practitioner include, but are not limited to:

  • Demonstrates independence, competency and accuracy in all work tasks, including those directly and indirectly related to patient care; consistently and competently provides ongoing healthcare services in conformance with established standards of care and administrative policies and procedures; collaborates as needed with Medical Director and other healthcare providers and physicians; independently plans, implements/orders and evaluates necessary diagnostic and therapeutic interventions and pharmacologic therapies as indicated for identification and management of healthcare conditions consistent with medical treatment and care standards.
  • Maintains current knowledge concerning principles and practice of healthcare of adults and adolescents through current literature, journal subscriptions, attendance at workshops and seminars, membership in professional organizations, and licensure maintenance. Keeps abreast of current technology, procedures and equipment related to area of specialty and effectively incorporates that information into his/her planning.
  • Creates and maintains accurate records, appropriate legal documents and other reports of patient care consistent with the requirements of local, state and/or federal regulatory agencies. Formulates clearly written documentation and clinic policies and procedures and systematically reviews, modifies and updates policies/procedures when necessary.
  • Gathers pertinent information systematically and skillfully from all sources: family histories, diagnostic tests, comprehensive physical examination, behavioral and developmental assessments, etc. Incorporates all assessment findings into an individualized plan of care..
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the referral process and use of multidisciplinary resources to meet patient's healthcare needs. Maintains appropriate channels of collaboration and communication with other healthcare providers. Performs evaluation and reassessment of medical problems, patient response and progress. Revises, documents and carries out plan of medical management.
  • Initiates and participates in research projects in the practice area. Reviews and evaluates current nursing research and identifies any legal components of practice, communicating information which may be applicable to practice area.
  • Complies with the regulations and standards of all applicable accrediting agencies.
  • Works closely with the Director and RN Clinic Manager to establish annual goals and realistic timelines for accomplishing goals. Applies hospital and departmental policies consistently.
  • Displays good independent problem-solving skills and takes responsibility for improving technical skills, critical thinking and interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Evaluates the department's operations in terms of the hospital's QA standards and pertinent professional standards. Assures that annual PI reports are completed accurately and in accord with hospital policies and procedures; submits reports in a timely manner.

Hours

Monday – Friday, 7:30am – 4:30pm

Pay

$44.64 to $73.66 based on experience
