POSITION PURPOSE:
The Service Supervisor manages our service operations for the Richmond, VA Branch. The Service Supervisor maintains a high standard of urgency and provides repair solutions that result in enjoyable, frictionless, and timely outcomes for both our customers and our staff. The position will report to our Service Director and Branch Manager.
Essential Functions:
  • Open and close the Branch Facility daily.
  • Plan, organize and schedule technicians. Keep abreast of all work in progress.
  • Communicate with and coach employees on assignments, providing technical expertise as needed. Ensure Urgent follow through on all phases of repair.
  • Organize, communicate, and delegate responsibilities and priorities to ensure the successful operation of the department.
  • Open and close workorders in a timely fashion, manage work in process.
  • Manage time keeping and certify hours in our payroll application.
  • Prepare repair estimates via our quoting system and communicate with both sales team and customers.
  • Coordinate technician availability with Branch Coordinator, Sales Representatives and Branch Management
  • Oversee daily/monthly safety meetings.
  • Provide regular performance feedback that recognizes performance, motivates employees, and promotes self-development via our performance management tool.
  • Responsible for Housekeeping and Organization in the shop and yard.
  • Ensure a safe work environment and create organizational plan to keep location running as efficiently as possible.

Employee Management
  • Coordinate and schedule service requests for field and shop service mechanics using company’s CDK software program.
  • Act as a hands-on manager; jump in and help as business operations require.
  • Recruit, motivate, mentor, and empower high-performing parts and service teams to achieve company goals; measure team member’s success on an ongoing basis and coach/take corrective action as necessary; execute a consistent performance management process with employees including quarterly reviews and annual goal setting.
  • Organize training and development opportunities for employees.
  • Live by Highway’s values; advance and support a culture of leadership, responsibility, accountability, continual improvement, and fun among all employees.
  • Contribute to Highway’s overall success by performing additional duties as assigned.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor/manager/director.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
  • High school diploma, or trade school equivalent. Some college preferred; 5 years related service supervisory experience in the construction equipment business.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in direct customer contact.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must pass a background check.
Essential Skills:
  • Strong mechanical aptitude; able to read, understand, interpret, and convey technical information.
  • Proficient in the use of a computer; able to adapt to changing technology.
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks at once, quickly evaluate facts and maintain good judgment when making decisions.
  • Able to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction by identifying and resolving problems promptly.
  • Effectively manage work in process by ensuring work orders are managed and closed in accordance with established timelines.
  • Conduct regularly scheduled safety meetings and enforce all safety policies and procedures; investigate and report on-the-job accidents or safety hazards.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to read, analyze, and interpret general business reports, technical procedures, etc.
