Training and Development Manager

Job Summary:
The Training and Development Manager is responsible for improving the productivity of the organization's employees. This position assesses company-wide developmental needs to drive training initiatives and identifies and arranges suitable training solutions for employees. The role actively searches, creatively designs, and implements effective methods to educate, enhance performance, and recognize performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct annual training and development needs assessments.
- Develop training and development programs and objectives.
- Administer spending against the departmental budget.
- Obtain and develop effective training materials utilizing a variety of media.
- Train and coach managers, supervisors, and others involved in employee development efforts.
- Plan, organize, facilitate, and order supplies for employee development and training events.
- Develop and maintain organizational communications such as intranet bulletin boards and newsletters to ensure employees have knowledge of training and development events and resources.
- Conduct follow-up studies of all completed training to evaluate and measure results.
- Modify programs as needed.
- Exemplify the desired culture and philosophies of the organization.
- Plan, develop, and provide training and staff development programs using knowledge of the effectiveness of methods such as classroom training, demonstrations, on-the-job training, meetings, conferences, and workshops.
- Work effectively as a team member with other members of management and the HR staff.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong presentation skills.
- Adept with a variety of multimedia training platforms and methods.
- Ability to evaluate and research training options and alternatives.
- Ability to design and implement effective training and development programs.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and communication.
- Experience with computer-based training software and presentation software.
- Skills in graphic design, speech clarity, adaptability, instructional methods, and active listening.
- Knowledge of personnel procedures and human resources.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Five years of experience designing and implementing employee development programs.
- Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) credential preferred.
- SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
