The Quality and Patient Safety Manager is accountable for assisting the facility with improving quality and patient safety through management of the patient safety event analysis platform. This position supports a culture of high reliability and the measurement of care quality identifying opportunities and executing on strategies for performance improvement in the following areas of the organization: outcomes (highly reliable processes, delivering exceptional outcomes and/or optimal health), safety (deliver the safest care to patients driven through leadership and a culture of high reliability), PSO Protections (ensures all PSO requirements are managed and highly functional) and experience of care (relationship-centered care grounded in empathy, dignity, respect and collaboration).
Responsibilities
- Leads and/or functions as the Patient Safety Officer and PSO lead on facility level.
- Applies a current working knowledge of national, local, and system patient safety standards and trends as appropriate to assignment or specialty.
- Leads RCA efforts and reports to the Ardent PSO, per requirements.
- Participates in the facility event notification process for reporting safety events.
- Participates in the facility safety events classification process.
- Provides collaboration and consultative support to Risk Management, Compliance, Medical Staff, Nursing, and others by compiling reports with recommendations from appropriate sources, participating in maintenance of applicable Safety Plans, networking across departments to achieve objectives and goals, participate or facilitate patient safety improvement teams, and engages and interacts with staff at all levels to encourage ownership of initiatives.
- Applies quality improvement methodologies as a quality representative/facilitator for Performance Improvement Teams and as a consultant to provide basic CQI or statistical tools.
- Evaluates and makes recommendations for facility improvements using quality data, event and safety reports.
- Provides leadership to focus areas and by utilizing facilitation and assessment skills to develop evidence-based initiatives.
- Has knowledge of the PI process and coordinates any necessary review of patient care and documentation of the process.
- Abides by employee performance standards and behaviors.
- BSN Preferred
- Strong and effective communication skills
- Critical thinking, prioritization of work streams and projects and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to plan, develop, and present programmatic materials in front of an audience greater than 20 people, including senior leadership at the facility level.
- Previous Quality RN experience
- Oklahoma or applicable Multi-state RN license (upon hire)
- BLS (upon hire)
