Hillis-Carnes is Hiring a Senior System Administrator - Annapolis Junction, MD Near Annapolis, MD

Hillis-Carnes Engineering is currently seeking a dedicated, proactive, and experienced System Administrator to join our dynamic IT team our Annapolis Junction, MD office. As a Senior System Administrator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the optimal performance, security, and reliability of our organization's technology infrastructure. If you have a passion for problem-solving, a keen eye for detail, and a customer service-oriented approach, we'd love to hear from you!

Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain hardware, software, and network components for servers, workstations, and other IT infrastructure.
  • Monitor system performance, identify and resolve issues to ensure optimal system functionality.
  • Assist the help desk and other teams with troubleshooting to identify root causes and provide technical support when needed.
  • Develop and implement security protocols, policies, and procedures to safeguard company data and prevent unauthorized access.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and system access, ensuring proper adherence to company policies.
  • Perform regular system backups and recovery, ensuring data integrity and availability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of IT systems, configurations, and procedures for troubleshooting and future reference.
  • Research and evaluate emerging technologies, hardware, and software, making recommendations for improvements and upgrades.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to end-users, prioritizing customer satisfaction.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in system administration.
  • Minimum of 2 years of management experience preferred.
  • Strong experience with Windows environments.
  • Expert knowledge of creating and managing group policy.
  • Strong skills in scripting languages such as PowerShell.
  • Proficiency in virtualization technologies such as Hyper-V.
  • Proficiency in firewalls and VPN configuration.
  • Experience with Intune and configuration manager.
  • Experience with Veeam is a plus.
  • Experience with Azure is a plus.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively explain complex technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A , Network , Security , MCSA, or CCNA) are a plus.
