Are you ready for the next level of career advancement? Hillpointe seeks a licensed structural engineer, P.E., to support our continuing growth.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review structural construction documents and modifications, including AJH reviewer comments, construction plans and structural specifications, and design plans for projects using engineering and design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, etc.)
  • Proactively respond to requests for information and comments from review authorities with jurisdiction in partnership with Hillpointe management and the KSH engineering team.
  • Expedite approval of architectural plans through the approval process in collaboration with executive leadership and the Project Architect on structural components.
  • Assist Sr. Architect and KSH Engineering team with the review and approval of materials and substitutions, plan modification, and project, including design standards, technical conditions, and code compliance
  • Make structural calculations about pressures, loads, and stresses.
  • Use reports, maps, drawings, engineering plans, tests, and aerial photographs to assess soil composition, geotechnical reports, hydrological characteristics, and topographical data to ensure accurate technical specifications, design quality, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team on constructability issues, determine the appropriate use of building materials, and assist in developing structural specifications.
  • Lead product research; assist material research and maintain a technical resource library.
  • Research and develop a knowledge base of local, state, and federal land use permitting and building codes.
  • Execute deliverables according to the scope of services, Hillpointe standards, best practices, and quality expectations.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Construction Experience

  • Knowledge of current design codes and standards.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal direction.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, etc.
  • Prepare engineering calculations and coordinate structural design with other engineering disciplines, building officials, and contractors.
  • Responding to plan reviewer's comments and recommendations
  • Provide technical, design, and oversight to management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering with a focus in structural analysis
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration is required, including the ability to become credentialed in multiple states.
  • Background and experience in multi-family or commercial mixed-use construction.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical abilities and judgment capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Ability to remain calm, focused, and effective under time-sensitive circumstances.
  • Solid leadership, project management, decision-making, and multitasking skills.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Some overnight travel may be required.
