**WHAT YOU'LL DO**

The Essential Functions Include:

* Conducts street outreach to transition-aged youth in a team approach

* Provides peer support services to homeless youth with substance abuse disorders

* Assists clients in articulating personal goals for recovery through the use of one-to-one and group sessions

* Assists clients in determining the steps he/she needs to take in order to achieve goals and self-directed recovery

* Provide information and referrals for social service and financial assistance programs, community resources, recovery supports and treatment providers

* Assist with linkage tasks, advocacy and accompaniment within the community on an as needed basis

* The PRSS will promote community socialization, recovery, self-advocacy, self-help, and development of natural supports.

* Completes tracking tools and enters data into agency database

* Participate in weekly staff meetings

**WHAT YOU'LL BRING** **EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & CERTIFICATES**

* Lived experience with homelessness, mental health, and/or substance abuse

* Peer Recovery Specialist Certification, or at least 3 years experience in lieu of certification

* High School Diploma/GED preferred, but not required

* Must have demonstrated the ability to establish and maintain effective person-to-person relationships, skill in oral and written communication, ability to inspire confidence and motivate individuals, and capacity for leadership

**Driving is an essential function of this position:**

* Must have valid CA Driver's License

* Must provide proof of personal vehicle insurance

**OSHA CATEGORY:**

This position performs tasks that may involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues. All Hillsides employees are offered the opportunity to receive the Hepatitis B vaccination series.
