Hilton Lexington Downtown is Hiring a Restaurant Busser Near Lexington, KY

Department: Food & Beverage

Reports to: Restaurant/ Lounge Manager

Position Summary:The Busser is responsible for maintaining cleanliness of the bar, service areas and equipment in the bar area.

Accountabilities: The Busser is responsible for assisting in making guests feel welcome, comfortable in a clean dining environment. Primarily responsible for clearing away dirty dishes after guests have completed dining/ beverage experience in a timely manner. Will stock all utensils, equipment and beverages as needed for service.

Qualification Standards

Education & Experience:

  • ServSafe Certificate or other appropriate alcohol service related training preferred
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Customer Service experience preferred

Tools & Equipment:

  • Carpet sweeper or vacuum, hot plates, coffee and espresso machines, juice machine, trays, bus tubs, dishes

Work Environment:

  • Under variable temperature conditions
  • Under variable noise levels
  • Indoors / outdoors
  • Around chemicals

Physical Requirements:

  • Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
  • Ability to stand for long hours walk long distances
  • Ability to work long hours, some back to back shifts as needed
  • Ability to work under variable temperatures and noise levels
  • Near Vision – ability to see details at close range
  • Ability to bend, stretch, twist or reach with your body and arms

Mental Requirements:

  • Oral and Written Comprehension and Expression - Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly in English
  • Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately
  • Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary
  • Must work well in stressful, high pressure situations
  • Ability to multi task
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by co-workers and guests
  • Mathematical Reasoning - Must be able to work with and understand basic arithmetic functions

Duties & Functions

Essential:

  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service oriented manner
  • Maintain regular attendance, as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, as defined in the hotel handbook, when working
  • Comply at all times with New Castle standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of table/ seat/ station numbers, room capacity, hours of operation and proper table set ups
  • Set up and empty trash receptacles following department specifications
  • Stock condiments and supplies as laid down in departmental standards
  • Prepare beverage stations as assigned
  • Retrieve clean linen from Laundry and stock in the Restaurant

Serve Water to all guests

Serve coffee, tea, and other designated non-alcoholic beverages

Prepare tables for meals, including setting up items such as linens, silverware and glassware

  • Complete all side work and cleaning duties as described in the SOP's.
  • Have full knowledge of entire menu, as well as daily specials, desserts, etc
  • Serve food or beverages to patrons, and prepare or serve specialty dishes at tables as required
  • Remove dishes and glasses from tables or counters, clean in designated area
  • Assist in removing empty bottles and placing in proper recycling/ redemption area
  • Respond to guest complaints in a timely manner
  • Keep immediate supervisor fully informed of all problems or matters requiring his or her attention
  • Insure compliance with all local liquor laws, and health & sanitation regulations
  • Insure compliance with departmental S.O.P.s
  • Insure that all side work is completed before leaving property
  • Be up to date on all guest services, promotions and events in the Hotel

Marginal

  • Other duties as required
  • Knowledge of F&B procedures and serving standards
  • Health Department rules and regulations
  • Participate in hotel and department meetings as requested

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $12.00 per hour
