Hilton Washington DC National Mall The Wharf is Hiring a Barback Near Washington, DC

JOB OVERVIEW
Ensure that the Bar and Cocktail area is stocked with proper equipment, an adequate supply of liquor and free of debris so that the Bartenders and Cocktail Servers have the supplies needed to perform their jobs. Also, ensure a smooth flow of operations in the restaurant.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • Previous experience as a bar utility preferred.
  • Food Handler Card required.
  • TIPS certification required.
  • Relevant military experience in a comparable capacity
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
  • Ability to understand Guests' service needs.
  • Ability to be well organized. Maintain concentration and think clearly when providing service to Guests.
  • Ability to focus attention to performance of tasks despite frequent stressful, emergency, or unusual interruptions.
  • Ability to assemble and disassemble linens, tables, china, flatware, and glassware to restaurant standards.
  • Ability to converse calmly with irate Guests, co-workers or supervisors in sometimes tense situations.
  • Ability to transport food and beverage to Guests.
  • Ability to perform job functions with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.
  • Ability to maintain complete knowledge of the following:
    • Table, seat, and station numbers, room capacity, hours of operation, proper table set-up and dress code of the restaurant.
    • Correct maintenance and use of food and beverage serving/preparation equipment.
JOB DUTIES
  • Stock ice bins with ice as needed throughout the shift.
  • Know how to efficiently operate and assemble glass washer.
  • Know the proper way to cut garnishments for drinks.
  • Know how to set up accurate requisitions for supplies in the outlet.
  • Stock adequate supply of glasses to last throughout shift.
  • Check and empty garbage cans frequently.
  • Wipe down bar areas and tables as needed.
  • Sweep the floors when needed.
  • Stock and clean liquor room.
  • Set up the food and happy hour displays; replenish food as needed and break down the happy hour tables when the function is finished.
  • Remove bus pans from the outlet when necessary.
  • Assist the Bartenders and Cocktail Servers with serving food and drinks when needed.
  • Help decorate the outlet for special promotions

STOOPING (BENDING AT WAIST): Constantly. Lifting and completing tasks at different levels.

LEG/FOOT USE: Constantly.
REACHING (OVERHEAD/EXTENSION): Constantly. Lifting and completing tasks at different levels.
HANDLING/GRASPING: Constantly.
FINGERING/FEELING: Constantly.
PUSHING/PULLING: Occasionally. Using the bin for ice.
LIFTING/CARRYING: Constantly lifting/moving up to 25 pounds. Occasionally lifting/moving up to 35 pounds.
SPEECH REQUIREMENTS: Constantly required to speak to others in person and on the telephone in English.
HEARING REQUIREMENTS: Constantly required to listen to others in person and on the telephone in English.
VISION: Constantly required to see up close and ability to adjust focus. Occasionally required to see distances.
COMPENSATION
Pay: 26.05 per hour
