Cost Estimator 

$83K - $145K Bonus (Pay commensurate with experience)

Job Overivew:

Produce the scope for bids, provides detailed cost estimates for selected construction projects, and prepare bid packages. Work with subcontractors during the proposal process to ensure costs are competitive to meet WIN strategies and overall organizational goals.

Required Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction, Engineering, or related field
  • At least 6 years of experience in estimating federal government construction contracts or an equivalent combination of experience and education. Experience with Divisions 1-48 is preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal government and commercial construction contracts including the bidding processes.
  • bility to learn and understand new software and enterprise systems quickly, including such systems as Timberline, Primavera P6, HCSS, MC2, InEight, On-Screen Takeoff, and RS means.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite. 
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate with various levels of management.
  • Ability to work with different departments and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify issues and recommend workable solutions.
  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times. 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and changing schedules.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to: 

  • Prepares detailed cost estimates by analyzing plans and specifications, determining project scope and performing quantity take-offs for select trades. 
  • Develops and prepare conceptual estimates with minimal subcontractor assistance using limited preliminary design documents and information. 
  • Reviews software generated estimates for completion and technical accuracy ensuring quality and integrity of bids.
  • Develops subcontract interest in projects and manage the subcontractor RFP process. 
  • Qualify and level subcontractors' proposals according to project specifics. 
  • Itemizes trade specific scopes and prepare bid packages. 
  • Assists project manager and scheduler with breaking out costs/invoices based on CLINs.
  • Interacts with clients, architects, engineers, and local government officials to understand and incorporate project objectives, schedules, permits, costs, and other items needed for the success of the project. 
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
