Senior Research Associate, MSAT Downstream

Our pharmaceutical client here in Boston, MA is growing and looking to add a Sr. Research Associate, MSAT Downstream to their team (onsite/ in the lab) This will be a wet lab-based, onsite role supporting their downstream MSAT processing activities. Other responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Conducts routine lab scale purification processes independently with minimal supervision.
• Laboratory techniques include but are not limited to chromatography purification, column packing, general filtration, tangential flow filtration, vendor interaction, and sampling handling.
• Utilizes downstream purification experience to provide support for process scale-up, scale down model validation and late state process development activities.
• Analyze and help interpret data using industry standard statistical software tools, such as JMP.
• Records data in research ELN and reports results according to industry standards.
• Collaborates with managers to integrate experimental design and outcomes for presentation to team and program members. Prepares written / oral reports for presentation to the research group and senior staff and makes recommendations based on data and program team feedback.
• Manages downstream MS&T raw material and consumable inventory and prepares buffers and additional formulations as needed. Assists in reagent and consumable ordering and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
• Troubleshoots malfunctioning equipment and techniques.
• Assists communication with internal functional teams and external CROs.

Requirements:

• Requires a bachelor’s or master’s degree in chemical engineering or related field with a minimum of 3 years of relevant wet lab experience or equivalent. Hands-on experience of AKTA/Unicorn purification system (or equivalent), operation and maintenance. Experience in filtration techniques involving various pressures and volumes. Working knowledge of upstream processing and analytical assay result interpretation.
• Ability to follow instructions precisely, recognize deviations, and recommend corrective action within the scope of training. Capable of moderately complex troubleshooting of experiment and equipment issues.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of cross-functional teams in a highly dynamic, fast-paced, matrixed environment.
• Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.), JMP, and other related software.
