Director, Financial Planning and Analysis

We are working with a Private Equity backed, facilities services company looking to add a Director, Financial Planning and Analysis to their team.

The Director of FP&A, reporting directly to the CFO, will be responsible for leading the FP&A processes for the Company and assisting the CFO on setting strategies and implementing reporting and process initiatives across the company. Focus will be on establishing and driving the company’s financial planning and analysis function with an emphasis on performance improvement, providing quality management information, and furthering the development of scalable reporting systems and processes, analytical tools, and key performance metrics. Candidate must be able to quickly ramp-up the learning curve to identify the key levers of performance across the platform in order to develop a credible rapport with constituents. Must be able to collaborate across all functional areas of the business constructively and efficiently, within a fast paced, distribution focused, private equity backed company.

Position Responsibilities

Collaborating with the CFO and finance team, establish and enhance the company’s financial planning function to deliver quality management information and advance the development of systems, processes, and metrics. Responsibilities include:

  • Developing and reporting key financial, pricing, sales, and operational data/metrics through dashboards and forecasts.
  • Partnering with functional leaders to create and maintain a 13-week rolling cash flow forecast.
  • Supporting the creation of detailed, bottom-up budgets and forecasts to aid in both short-term and long-term strategic planning.
  • Educating and assisting business and functional leaders in developing their strategic plans, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Providing data and insights related to customers, suppliers, and markets to better understand business trends.

Enhance the company’s financial analysis function with a focus on performance improvement and timely external analysis. This includes:

  • Analyzing cash flow, cost control, and expenses, and working with business and functional leaders to recommend and implement improvements.
  • Conducting economic and industry analyses to identify and recommend strategies in response to market trends.
  • Monitoring the company’s performance against external benchmarks and internal KPI targets.
  • Investigating financial and operational performance variances and assisting business leaders in corrective actions.

Required Knowledge and Skills/Key Attributes

  • Strong business acumen, preferably with experience in manufacturing, construction, facilities services, or private equity environments.
  • Expertise in process mapping aimed at simplification and efficiency.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail, accuracy, and sound business judgment.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, work under pressure, and meet deadlines with a high sense of urgency.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Adaptability to thrive in a dynamic and complex environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Trusted relationships with senior management and board members.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements

  • 7-10 years of relevant experience in Finance and FP&A roles.
  • Proven track record in reporting and financial analysis, preferably within a high-growth, private equity organization.
  • Experience in developing scalable financial planning, analysis, and reporting models to support company growth.
  • Ability to model and synthesize complex financial, operational, and KPI data into clear presentations and decision-making frameworks.
  • Strong working knowledge of ERP systems and databases, with proficiency in reporting/analysis tools such as Power BI.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in finance, accounting, or industrial engineering is required.
