JOB SUMMARY & KEY OBJECTIVES:
The Foodservice Sales Representative is responsible for using their knowledge/expertise of HCC products and services to help solve problems and fill needs of buyers, product development people and decision makers at potential customers. Their duties include developing sales presentations to sell products or services, making cold calls to sales leads and taking calls from prospective customers. The primary objective is to identify customers that fit the HCC key customer profile and then sell our products and services to them for an intended long term supplier/customer relationship.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times when dealing with customers by
    • Communicating openly, honestly and constructively
    • Treating all customers and employees with dignity, respect and concern
    • Making every effort to promptly resolve any lapse in communication, concerns or problems
    • Asking for information needed to perform all aspects of the position successfully 
  • Foodservice Product Sales with a primary focus on Hirzel brands
  • Identify and generate quality leads
  • Develop relationships with targeted customers, network with individuals in the industry and develop a reputation as a solutions provider. 
  • Contact, sell, manage sales process with foodservice distribution, restaurant operators, frozen food manufacturers, fresh prepared manufacturers, shelf stable manufacturers in the U.S. 
  • Provide support and/or manage foodservice brokers as required by the manager
  • Acquire market information to
    • Determine customer needs, recording and reporting for developing market strategies
    • Understand customer decision making process with products and services 
    • Identify pertinent information regarding a competitor’s products, pricing and marketing strategies
    • Maintaining up-to-date awareness of industry activities, trends, environmental issues and government regulations
  • Develop and deliver sales presentations and close sales in a professional and effective manner by:
    • Developing individual strategies and sales goals for customers
    • Presenting products to operators, distributors and manufacturers
    • Make sales calls to develop relationships, follow up on leads, and grow existing accounts
  • Maintain contact and understand needs of customers in order to expand client base for Foodservice Operations by researching and developing lists of potential customers
    • Pursue independent restaurant, chain businesses and regional operator sales opportunities
  • Extensive travel is involved for participation in food shows, training seminars, product cuttings with customers and brokers on a regular basis
  • Will handle Industrial customers as required
  • Other duties as assigned

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Sales, or Communications preferred but not required
  • Willingness to travel 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to converse comfortably and freely with strangers
  • High level of presentation skills
  • Extensive travel is involved
  • Ability, discipline, and integrity to work independently
  • Excellent math and proof-reading skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Package, Google Drive, Hubspot CRM
  • Self-starter – highly motivated
  • Problem solver
