Job Title: Quality Engineer

Department: Quality Control

Reports to: Senior Quality Manager

Location: Onsite, Hillsboro, OR

Job Summary:

We are looking for a Quality Engineer who will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of our products/services through the implementation of effective quality control measures. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in implementing quality management systems, conducting process audits, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across multiple stages of the production process.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality control procedures and protocols to ensure compliance with industry standards, customer requirements, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections of manufacturing processes, raw materials, and finished products to identify areas for improvement and ensure adherence to quality specifications.
  • Utilize statistical analysis tools and methodologies to analyze data, identify trends, and drive process optimization initiatives.
  • Lead root cause analysis investigations for quality incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve quality-related issues and drive continuous improvement efforts throughout the organization.
  • Provide training and guidance to production staff on quality standards, procedures, and best practices.
  • Support new product development projects by establishing quality requirements and ensuring compliance throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Monitor and evaluate supplier performance to ensure the quality of incoming materials and components.
  • Stay current with industry trends and developments in quality management systems and manufacturing processes.

Skills Integral to the Job:

  • Hands on experience with ISO 9001 or equivalent quality management systems and tools
  • Strong understanding of quality control processes and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with relevant quality standards and regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functional teams.
  • Demonstrated Project Management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering or equivalent in experience.
  • 2 years experience as Quality Engineer
  • 5 years related experience in high-technology manufacturing, preferably semiconductor capital equipment or related industry
  • Experience with process auditing, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action methodologies.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with changing priorities.
  • ASQ CQA, CQT or CQE certification, preferred
  • Experience driving continuous improvement through use of Lean Manufacturing concepts.
  • Experience with statistical analysis and quality tools (Six Sigma, Statistical Process Control).
  • Knowledge of raw materials specifications surrounding stainless steel and cleanroom grade materials, is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting, standing, or walking.
  • Work conditions may include areas of restricted movement, air contamination, intense noise, and hazardous materials.
  • Must be able to regularly lift to 40 pounds.
  • Must be okay with working in cleanroom occasionally.
